Gloria Ladson-Billings has written a book full of contemplation, which is challenging to read and process at times. It isn't an easy read because of conditions society has systematically put into place and policies and procedures that have been put into place for quite some time. However, I believe this book is a must-read for anyone interested in racial relationships or diversity, equity, and inclusion. If you read it, keep an open mind and actively think about what the author is trying to explain, then go out and open your eyes to the world we find ourselves living within. If you do this all with a researcher's mind, you will have started a journey. As a parting thought, Gloria Ladson-Billings challenges us to all talk about race as a way to redefine the definition and to change the color-blind policies and procedures found within our worldview. A must-read!
