There were a few details that caused me to stumble in terms of a believable plot (who was paying the medical and vet bills?), but I did really enjoy the story and characters and growth. I learned some new things, and I love a good dog.

There is no denying this is a well-written book.
Center writes the most loveable characters, you just can't help but fall in love with them.
That said, I have one huge gripe with this book and it's the overuse of the misunderstanding trope.
It literally dragged through the entirety of the book, like the last page dragging.
Uhhgghh
Very wholesome story with no angst or steam,
If that's for you, then you will enjoy this

Didn’t care for the main character and her aggressive quirkiness, the peripheral characters I found completely over the top (her sister is ridiculously terrible). The twist at the end caught me off guard but was cute.

I'm going to borrow the author's own words for this one... "This love story really created fantastic anticipation." I read that in the author's note, and thought it was the best description of this book. I knew how this one would play out while I was reading it, but I kept doing so because I was really excited to see how it all came together in the end. Sadie's face blindness was such an interesting premise for the book, and I still am trying to figure it out no matter how many times it was explained. I found her character to be realistic, and I enjoyed how her struggles blended with the romance along the way.

Overall, I enjoyed this one. There is an instance of fatphobia pretty early on in the book that almost made me DNF, but I kept going because I was so intrigued by the face blindness aspect. It turned out to be the miscommunication trope, so I'm happy with my decision, but I wanted to mention it for others awareness.

3.6 stars. This was cute, interesting premise (face blindness) and lots of warm, delightful characters. The biggest Miss I think was Sadie, the main character. Annoying for the better part of the book. Stubborn in very peculiar ways. So, despite her, there was a lot to like and it was a fun read.

“We see what we’re looking for”

Man, Center really puts her characters through the ringer, but the endings are so worth it!

What an interesting story. Sadie acquired a condition known as ‘face blindness’ where she can’t distinguish/or make out faces. She can see just fine but her brain can’t cognitively put together the pieces of a face. It was really fascinating to learn about this condition (nearly 3% of the population have it and while a small number that’s still millions of people!)

Also the moment I REALIZED… I started cackling like a mad woman. Center is truly such an amazing author and her stories fill you with so much happiness ❤️

5/5 ⭐️

(Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.)
Loved this book! It had romance and humor all rolled into one. If you like rom-coms, this book is sure to please. It was a bit predictable, but after reading the author's note at the end, I think it sort of was meant to be. I knew the love story would have a happy ending, and I was anticipating getting there (did I say that correctly, Ms. Center?) I recommend.

Such a good twist on a romance book! The face blindness really puts an interesting take on the story plot.
I’ve heard about face blindness before, but this book really made me think about it more and the complexities that come with it.

The plot twist was anticipated but refreshing.

All in all, this is a romance book with a kick! Enjoyable read.

Thanks to NetGalley and St.Martin’s Press for the ARC! This certainly had some charm to it and I loved the overall message regarding confirmation bias. I also thoroughly enjoyed learning about prosopagnosia (face blindness) and thought it was a unique plot device for a romance novel, however; the foreshadowing for the “twist” etc, while I’m glad seeds were planted it was painfully obvious and just a drawn out miscommunication trope.

The fat phobia at the beginning was striking and highly off putting, even though ages later it turned out not to be actual fat phobia, what a weird and just plain bad way to move along a plot twist. The character of Parker was a caricature and highly unnecessary - that entire plot point was a little too glossed over and didn’t fit.

Finally, while parts of this were good, the characters were underdeveloped, the various threads didn’t quite fit together and I wasn’t loving it.

3/5 stars; I thought this book was a fun read, however as other reviewers have said, the FMC was a hard sell for some reason. I did enjoy the ending and started to see it coming around 75% of the way through. Let me say the Weasel was my favorite character and had the most redeeming qualities. I really enjoyed his character and thought that he brought a lot of positives to the storyline. I thought seeing the world through the eyes of someone with facial blindness was also very interesting and a concept I have not read much on.
