The Hundred Loves of Juliet. My fellow readers. I was quite taken by the beautiful telling of this story. It was not just the romantic part of it, but how it was told. You have the main couple Sebastian and Juliet or originally Romeo and Juliet moving across time, but always finding each other.
The question is do they remember one another? Do they pick up where they left off? Now we have Sebastian and Helen. Never have I ever prayed so hard for two people to make it to the end of the book.
The touch and goes of Sebastian on his boat out in the sea and Helen during her interesting trips or that mysterious person who watched her from afar. The character that moved me the most is Sebastian. It’s his story and what he has given up the most that grabs your heart and makes you want to make everything right for him. I didn’t cry while this book, but it’s an emotional book. This book reminds you of being in love and making sure that that person always enjoys feeling the bliss of that same feeling.
I give this book two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

I have a thing for soulmate/fated mate stories. I can't help it. There's just something about a love that was always meant to be, that digs in and won't let go, that speaks to me. It's even more of a gut punch when only one side of the duo even realizes what is happening. I guess I'm a bit of a masochist in that regard. These books always break my heart well before they try to piece it back together again, but I keep going back for more.

This book made me cry. What starts out as shades of a rom-com with a grumpy-sunshine pairing turns out to be deceptively more involved. It was full of heartbreak, longing, and a love that spans lifetimes. Helene and Sebastien reached off of the page and snared my heart in a vise grip that refused to let go. They are both searching for something and trying to get away from failed relationships. Sebastien is continually running from the centuries of love and heartbreak that keep reeling him in, and cutting him loose. He is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. Helene is writing stories of love, while fleeing an unwanted relationship. She just doesn’t realize exactly who it is she is running towards.

This is a story about love, and what happens when you have to be willing to fight for it. When you have to be willing to accept that sometimes, love stories and coincidences are more than they may seem. When you have to be willing to accept that love is not always happiness. And when you have to accept that no matter how long you have it, love is worth the broken heart that can come when it is lost.

*I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher (Random House Publishing Group - Del Rey). All opinions are my own.

Why isn't this book getting more hype? I don't know.

Such a fun and thoughtful twist on one of the most famous love stories of all time, this Romeo and Juliet left me wanting more. And I am NOT an R&J fan (love at first sight? I don't believe it).

Lovely and sweet, with an MMC who would do anything for the woman he loves.

What a devastatingly romantic, heartbreaking, passionate, sweet book. A visionary retelling of Romeo and Juliet, this book made me swoon a thousand times over. The absolute devotion of Sebastian to Helene was something only dreams are made of.

While the plot and characters had me invested, the writing style was also fun, quick and interesting. The whole story was incredibly fast-paced, and I loved the flow of piecing together the present with segments from the past. Also, I will always, always love getting romance stories from the guy’s POV. And man, this delivered.

I honestly thought this would just be a quick romance read for February. Little did I know how much I would absolutely fall in love with this book. Is it perfect? No. But is it beautiful, raw, dreamy, romantic and charming? One hundred percent yes. ❤️‍

A very cute retelling of Romeo and Juliet. A very cozy read and I love the twists that are added in to make the story unique. I only wish the characters had a bit more depth.

There were many parts of this book I enjoyed. I liked the idea of making your own fate, and I also really liked how real
Sebastien’s trauma and fear felt - after all that happened, it only makes sense he’d be protective and kind of a mess at times.
That being said, I think something lacked in the epicness of the romance for me.
Part of that came with the past element of it - one half is already head over heels and the other has this immediate connection, so we didn’t really get the full experience of seeing them fall in love because in a lot of ways, they already were from the get go.
I think this kind of plot is hard to fully execute.
It just felt like the parts I usually love in a romance novel were glazed over and fast-forwarded through too much.
I thought it was well written and I liked the characters, but there was something missing overall that made me like it less.

This book is sweet and so heartwarming!! Its beauty lies in its simplicity, so don’t stress about figuring out the magic systems or anything like that—that’s not what’s important here! I love the concept and it was a romantic and dreamy read!

In this modern day reimagining of Romeo and Juliet, the star-crossed lovers are not just figments of the bard's imagination but real people, cursed to relive their tragic story throughout history. When Helene meets Sebastien Montague, she immediately knows him; she'd years spent writing stories about this very same man who she believed existed only in her imagination. Sebastien, well aware of who she is, is determined not to let this Juliet succumb to her fate yet again. As he tries to push her away, Helene is determined to find the truth. Are they doomed yet again, or will they finally have their happy ending?

The author can really paint a scene; there's a strong sense of place and vivid descriptions that pulled me into the page. The first meeting happens early in the book so we get into the story right away. I loved the alternating POV and the vignettes that offered a look into the couple's past iterations throughout history. The two have great chemistry, Sebastien is seriously swoonworthy, and I loved the whole forbidden love aspect and destined soulmates plot. Overall, I loved the set up, but I wasn't a huge fan of the last third of the book due to a specific plot point that I don't particularly enjoy in general. There was also a situation/resolution that seemed very out of left field and a bit far fetched, even for a fantasy novel. This was an enjoyable book for the most part, but it unfortunately lost me in the end.

Note: Fade to black/closed door romance, nothing explicit.

Thank you to the publishers and author for the ARC!
