A unique writing style that was not for me. Too violent and too tragic for my taste.

Foxfire never says die.
I have a Tattoo, based from this Book and the Movie that followed,...that starred Angelina Jolie. ;)
It's the story of a group of misfit girls, who fight back. Yes, they are a girl gang, but they aren't the offshoot of a boy gang. They aren't the girls of some local hoods. They are the ones running the show.
You are my Heart, Joyce. Foxfire Forever.

I am a sucker for stories about sisterhood, women exhibiting loyalty to each other and sticking together no matter what. This book was a quick and immersive read about teenage girl comradeship and men being trash. Issues I had with the book: white feminism and racism. Racism honestly did not have to be in this book. It added absolutely nothing to the story so I have no idea why Oates decided to include it at all.

I loved it in 9th grade. Now I'm reading it with my students. Not sure what they are going to think about it.

I struggled with the run on sentence, stream of consciousness writing style.
