From start to finish, this book is so disturbing. Michael knows something is so wrong with his family but he doesn’t know why. But when his brother, Rebel, starts taking him into town and he meets a girl, all he craves is a world where he can be normal for her. I had no idea, literally no idea where the ending was headed. I couldn’t have guessed it. The ending had my jaw on the floor. This book has all the trigger warnings so be prepared.

I can see why some people would enjoy the book but I wouldn’t recommend for someone who loves horror and has read a lot the “scary” moments of the book are very fade to black. I also thought it was very predictable and the huge twist was made very obvious. It wasn’t my favorite, but it’s a quick read.

This book took plot twist to a new level. It broke my heart, but was also surprisingly funny at times. It was pretty slow going to start, but once the twist is revealed towards the end, it’s a jumble of a climax until the book is finished. I absolutely loved it.

Heard about the book via tik tok where it was described as one that would really get to you as it’s super dark. And it is but as a horror fan, in the gore side like Saw, it wasn’t too bad. The story line itself wasn’t great and for the most expected to a degree.
