I was so excited to read this book. I had been watching the tv show Manifest on Netflix and just so happen to come across this book as a new release on Instagram. I knew I had to get my hands on it. Fate was on my side, I had went to my local library on Friday and low and behold there it was on the new release shelf, as well as These Hallow Vows, another book I had been wanting to read. I was so happy about the plot. Noted, it was a little odd and quite a big change. In Manifest, it was only five years, but here it was 25! And with the change of events I was equally intrigued and somewhat, SOMEWHAT disturbed. I feel I had a high bar for this and I do wish there would have been a deeper dive into the conspirators and the government. The romance was alright, it felt.. weird of course. I understood where Jenny was coming from but at the same time, these people thought you were DEAD. Of course they are going to do what they did.

This book was a fantastic read. I love books with magical realism when it has a sub aspect of time travel intertwined with it. I think it is kind of cool that Jenny is befuddled by the new technological advancements in the world such as an iPhone or a flat screen T.V. I have always wondered what the world would be like without these gadgets .Additionally I really enjoyed the pacing of the book. This book is like a puzzle that is pieced together slowly as Jenny tries to adjust to her new alternate reality One thing I originally didn't like about the audiobook is the narrator's voice. The narrator's voice just seemed to be a bit shrill but eventually it was fine.

This definitely didn't turn out like I thought..

The story follows Jenny who is supposed to take a 3 hour flight and the plane lands 20 years later. Super intriguing, right?

I was so hyped when I saw it was available to request on Netgalley because it sounded so good but there wasn't much to like unfortunately.

I really disliked our main protagonist with a passion like understandable that her family and friends are 20 years older while shes still 17 but.. I didn't like her character arc whatsoever or her choices.

The writing was ok but it was definitely not very easy to read so I'm so sad I didn't like this.

Your Life Has Been Delayed had an interesting premise. Our main character Jenny boards a flight to head back home but when the plane reaches its destination they have jumped 25 years into the future. From 1995 to 2020 there were a ton of changes and understandably come with some big adjustments for Jenny. The story follows her has she navigates these changes. Unfortunately, this book turned from an interesting case of time travel to a contemporary romance that leaves one with more questions than answers.
SpoilerHow did the plane jump through time? Why didn't the FBI follow up on the portal tip to confirm or deny? So we are just pretending that it was a fluke and everyone goes along their merry way? No resolutions!

Thank you Netgalley for an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Intriguing premise and captivating start. But...characters didn't distinguish themselves as particularly dimensional beings and a few other things make it fall flat.

But it might make you think about the passage of time. And it offers a different version of 2020 (which IS acknowledged in the author note).

I hoped I'd really enjoy this. I love Manifest and The 4400, two shows with a similar premise. Sadly, those shows have a plot, and mysteries, and, eventually, answers. Delayed never explains anything that happened, spends most of the time worrying about Jenny's slightly creepy love life, and tacks on a conspiracy subplot that Jenny has almost no part in dealing with.

If it had focused entirely on how Jenny had adapted to being in a new time, it might have been interesting. There were a lot of changes in those twenty five years, after all. The romance angle just didn't sit right with me, though. Her erstwhile boyfriend is just about the most inappropriate person possible for her to fall for. I did like her brother and his wife very much; I wish they'd been in it more.

It's a shame, because Michelle can write. I feel that this was maybe not the right project for her, but I'll be watching out for more books by her, because I think once she finds her niche it'll be great.
