As someone who doesn't typically read a lot of fantasy and was recommended this book by a friend, I was HOOKED!

Since I don't read a ton of fantasy, I appreciated the simple and easy to understand world building. We got a glimpse into the entire world, but the author seemed to really focus on the region the main character resides in. Although the pace is a bit fast, I thought it was perfect and very engaging. Some of Diem's choices/thoughts made me a little frustrated with her, but overall she was a great main character.

Immediately after I finished "Spark of the Everflame", I hopped on Kindle Unlimited and downloaded "Glow of the Everflame". I can't wait to see what happens next!

3.5 ⭐️ rounded up!

Found myself pleasantly surprised by this lower-stakes fantasy romance.

I enjoyed the setting and class/political system. I found myself continuing to read to uncover the mystery of the FMC's identity and purpose, and to see her relationship develop with the MMC.

There is well-developed plot and pacing here, if a little predictable. It's a fun ride, with relatable and lovable characters.

Would recommend to fantasy romance readers who prefer a slower-burn romance, more politics, and delayed gratification in the spice department.
