Some wonderful world building here, and a great start to a series!

The writing is good, but Diem isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Her actions would be a lot more believable if she were supposed to be 16 instead of 20.

I know the author made Diem be 20 years old so there would be spice, but Diem’s decision-making skills are truly those of a young teenager.

Note to fantasy romance authors: I know you’re getting a ton of pressure to put spice in your books, but please make your characters appropriately mature for the age they’re supposed to be.

It's a good book, but it does really feel like an introduction to a series (a book that if I decide to reread a series, i would skip it)
