A delightful read about accepting people despite their differences and standing up for what is right.

This book. This book is just beautiful. The writing is like a gorgeous prose. It's about looking beyond the surface of what you're taught to see to what is actually there. It's ahout home and family. The story is from the point of view of Linus who is a children's services caseworker who's sent on a special assignment to observe an orphange for a month and what he found there was so much more than what he was looking for.  I am not a weepy person but this book made my eyes leak and my heart bubble pop. I've never wanted to annotate and mark a book so much in my life that wasn't a textbook. I want to read it again just so I can write comments and thoughts on it.

What a wholesome book! At first the main character seems dull, an unlikeable, unremarkable bureaucrat. When he leaves for a mysterious important assignment, he is scared flustered, and overwhelmed. He leaves the place a changed man- courageous, curious, and in love in more ways than one. Perfect for lovers of fantasy, adventure, magic, and queer romance. A wholesome book about family, belonging, and home that is more than meets the eye.

A cute fictional book about acceptance and defining who you are. I generally have a hard time with the first 150 pages of TJ Klune books due to the pace and the unlikeable character traits, and that opinion transforms as the characters do.

A really enjoyable read! I loved the characters and the world building. I loved how hopeful it was without being unrealistic. Highly recommend!

Sweet story with endearing characters. Seems written for an adolescent-to-young-adult audience. Not typically my taste, but I did enjoy it. Even as a straight reader, queer stories are important!
