i found many of the ideas here to be incredibly sharp, insightful, and thought-provoking, but not sure how to rate this because
(1) the writing itself did not do the ideas any favors, and
(2) i remain skeptical abt the idea that absolute negativity—abolishing the self—is the only way to live against the grain of a societal promotion of a consumerist and contractual conception of love

Gostei muito do livro. A visão do Han é sempre muito interessante e a construção de argumento dele é algo que me diverte muito, mas tiveram passagens que ele tava romântico demais. Acho que até ele sentiu isso porque no final ele manda um NÃO TÔ SENDO ROMÂNTICO!!!!!11, mas tá um pouco.
Sinto que é um livro que vou ter que ler de novo pra pegar algumas ideias mais específicas, porque a concentração foi difícil dado que começou uma pandemia global enquanto tava lendo. Também senti que me faltam outras leituras pra entender completamente os contra-argumentos, principalmente no capítulo sobre pornografia. Mas os pontos principais foram tranquilos de entender e me gerou boas reflexões.
Também foi bom ver que o Han é sempre o Han criticando todos os filósofos e pensadores possíveis. Eu não sei se ele faz isso com humor, mas é sempre hilário. A abertura com shade pro Bauman fez bem pra minha pele, mas a real é que nada se compara ao momento que ele faz um parêntesis completamente desnecessário só pra dizer WALTER BENJAMIN É CONTIGO ESSE BAGULHO kkkkkkkk tudo. Os 5 min que ele tira pra falar mal do Zizek são ótimos também.
Apesar de preferir No Enxame, recomendo a leitura.

Sometimes insightful, sometimes annoying. Often felt like Han was distorting reality to more neatly fit into his theoretical frameworks - though those frameworks felt broadly useful and interesting.

The Agony of Eros is quintessential Byung Chul Han. With his concept of eroticism as the other being engulfed and consumed by the ego, he ties together the achivement subject's neverending need to achieve with the available methods to do so. I was quite interested in this, his reference to art and works referencing "information-thin" and "information-thick" lovers.
However, his essay should come with a reading and watching list. There were many times in this book where I felt lost because I had not seen or read some referenced short story. Some such as the short story of the dreamer by the sea are explained in fine context, but I found myself googling a lot while reading.
I would overall recommend this short read as it is among reflective, one of a kind content I have come to expect from Byung Chul Han.
