Flat

I really wanted to like this, it started interesting but the writing is flat, repetitive, over descriptive of non consequential things that don't bring anything to plot or character development, so the relationship and the end felt rushed and out of place and lacking chemistry.
One thing that bothered me was the constant "you need to work out" Comments from him as a boss. There's just too many little things that add up with this story than makes it hard to actually enjoy.

A very quick read. I loved the relationship to the kids. There were a few steamy scenes, but a pretty slow burn overall. The relationship definitely took time to build and grow.

I have two MAJOR weaknesses when it comes to books: kids and forbidden love. This book had both of those!!!

From Ashes To Flames was a slow burning romance that had me at the edge of my seat anticipating who'd make the first move. While it was a story about love it was also about second chances, healing, and moving on. What I REALLY loved was that the two children were never put on the backburner. They were just as important as the hero and heroine.

I'm VERY eager for the rest of the West Brothers.

Ehhhh.

I mean, it was ok. I really liked how outspoken and genuine Marin was, but she didn't feel fully developed as a character. Greydon was ok as well. But his emotions were all over the place. And while his circumstances definitely fuel his emotions, they didn't flow right to me.

Kinsley was adorable and one of my favorite characters. Aaron too. But there was no...build up? One page Grey is obtuse and the next he lusts after Marin.

Could have been phenomenal, but felt eh.

Romance book involving nanny is favorite trope of mine. I especially enjoy Eleanor & Grey. So when I read the blurp From Ashes To Flames, I pick it up. But something about this book is missing.

The characters when they stands alone, I can connect with them. But when the characters finally connect, I am lost. I think its because of the writing. It is more direct writing and not give so much drama, swoon worthy writing. The drama, the twist are not highlighted and developed properly. The connection between Gray and Mannie through his kids are stiff and too long. I have to admit it gets me bored a little.

When I am finished, I do enjoy this book OK despite the writing.
