Secret Vampire
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After Poppy is diagnosed with terminal cancer, she discovers her only hope of survival is her childhood best friend, James. As a born vampire, James has the ability to turn Poppy but it means the pair of them must risk everything and break the three most important rules of the Night World.

I adore this story, I honestly can’t even begin to guess at the shear number of times I have read it since I was around 10 years old or so. This forbidden/doomed love story has such a special place in my heart and I don’t think that is ever going to change.

Poppy and James are easily my favourite Night World couple!

Daughters of Darkness
⭐️⭐️⭐️

When three renegade vampires leave their home, on the run from their brother, they plan to join their aunt, who lives in exile amongst humans. Mary-Lynette takes notice of these three strangers, the sudden disappearance of their aunt, and the appearance of the sisters’ brother, and knows that something isn’t quite right…

I’ve read these book many times, and to be honest, Daughters of Darkness is one of my least favourites. I’m not sure why, I just never really connected with any of the characters and I always feel quite indifferent towards them, the storyline and the relationships.

Enchantress
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Witches Thea and Blaise are cousins, but have grown up as close as sisters. Moving from place to place, they end up living with their grandmother. Attending a new school, Thea meets Eric and everything changes. But Blaise is used to getting what she wants, and if there’s something this witch loves, it’s human play toys, and she has her eyes set on Eric…

Despite having read this story more times than I can count, it is still one of my favourites in the series. I love Thea and Blaise and I really enjoyed it that we get to see different aspects of it throughout the story. Also the relationship between Thea and Eric is very sweet and enjoyable, and I love how Thea truly becomes a part of his family and is loved by Eric’s mother and sister.

I decided to reread these books which I originally read in high school at which time I was obsessed with them. I mean they revolve around teenagers that find their soulmates and of course amidst a world of vampires, witches, and werewolves. It was everything I could have ever dreamed of. The impact was not quite the same this time around, but i was definitely very nostalgic.

I certainly wouldn't recommend this book, it's made up of three stories with very similar plots, if you enjoyed 'The House of Night Series' or 'Twilight' this is not for you.

finally finished this, and I don't know why I waited so long to read it, or to pick it back up. I'm glad I finally did and I won't take two years to read the other two now :)

Fave book out of the 3 in the series. Love the short stories, easy to read.

Vampires, werewolves, witches. What else do you expect when you hear of Night World? It's nice too see how the characters are linked, how it plays with your emotions (maybe it's just me, lol). Well, it's a fun and light reading, sometimes spooky, that is if you are used to how these supernatural world usually works and intertwined. Otherwise, it might be a little too quirky. But, i'd say the love stories are cute and well...cliche.

newest reread rating (2023): 5/5 stars

Every time I reread this set of books, I’m reminded how much the first three is my absolute FAVORITE. I love all of the simple forbidden love trope, the angst, the cringe, everything. It’s all good and simple paranormal romance before it all hits the fan and makes me a tense lil reader come the next 6 books.

***

5/5 stars, this set of three is honestly my favorite books out of the Night World series.

I first read this book when I was in middle school and it's exactly how I remembered it. I ended up almost mouthing what the characters' said -- though not verbatim.

Since it's been so long when I read this book lost, I also forgot how much I love James, Poppy, Ash, Thea, and Blaise. I love them all so much and their progression throughout the novels from individuals to a couple was developed.

I'm trying to see the build up to the overall plot in the third novel and I don't see it. There is a bit of a hint, but it wasn't a hint that I would consider easy to connect since you can assume that it's about humans and the Night World starting to connect to one another again. Like, I wouldn't have been angry if she kept it to just forbidden romances since it feels like that build up to the huge plot twists in the third book just isn't there.

The corniness takes me by surprise every time and it did take me out of the book because I would just burst into giggles each time. I get that this was the whole point of these books since it does take place around the 90s and focuses on forbidden romances and soulmates. It also doesn't help that the stories are fairly short so corniness was there.

Overall, it was a quick read and I love these series.
