Awesome book

This was an amazing book. I do not typically read a lot of nonfiction, but this book really makes me want to change that. I loved the fascinating look into an astronouts life, Scott climbing mountains and meeting John Glenn. I especially loved the Kindle in Motion aspect; all the pictures and the moving pictures were awesome. It really bought the whole story life. The quotes at the beginning of every chaper were a nice touch. This was such a great read, and such an uplifting book after the last book I read. Scott was so cheerful and full of life. He never gave up and I really admire that.

I enjoyed the mix-media included in this eBook.

Fascinating to read about such an adventurous life. I would recommend this book -- it doesn't cover complicated topics or adult material so it is readable to a wider range audience.

The stories told by Scott are just amazing. It’s incredible what an astronaut goes through in their training.
The most valuable thing I also learned was the idea of Third Culture Kids and being one how that affects my life. If you love aviation and space definitely read/listen to this book.

An autobiography by a talented and remarkable but ultimately self-absorbed man. It was interesting and exciting at the start but by the end I just felt sorry for his family who have had to put up with this blowhard's emotionally stunted behavior.

When I was 8, I wanted to be an astronaut. Very badly, in fact. But it turns out that having a major fear of heights was not conducive to joining the astronaut program. So I just was a major supporter.

So this was a really fun read for me. While keeping a very positive overall tone, he gives both the positives and negatives of being in the astronaut program. And the ups and downs of his own life. He fessed up to his own flaws and issues, but again, never in a whiny 'oh I had such hard times' sort of way. The style is relaxed, which makes it a pleasant read, with more of a conversational tone. He uses acronyms and scientific terms, but always explains what they are, so you don't feel totally lost in technojargon. His passions are science and mountain climbing, so he talks about both with obvious love and enthusiasm.

One thing, the Kindle ebook is a Kindle in Motion book, which is fantastic, as there are both photos AND video clips in it. But be warned.... I forgot it was a KIM book when I downloaded it to read and turned away for a moment. When I turned back to my Kindle, the cover photo of Mr. Parazynski blinked at me and I think I jumped out of my chair at least 2 feet! :P

This fascinating read combines two of my greatest interests: Space exploration and mountaineering. A very interesting book.

Great read, very inspirational! Combine a fantastic life story, a talented co-author, excellent editor, and superb production (Kindle in Motion) and the result is a very satisfying reading experience. The writing voice and pacing are consistent throughout, peaking with the exhilarating "you are there" walk-through of the incredible EVA (space walking) repair of the solar panels that were damaged during deployment on the International Space Station during STS-120. Really a remarkable feat; in fact there is a special acknowledgement in the book to the team of folks that so quickly developed the approach to solve this seemingly impossible task.

This was my first "Kindle in Motion" experience, and I thought the enhanced media aspects were exceptionally well done.
