I don’t feel like I got particularly much from this book. A lot of it was repeating previous stories from a different POV, and then a quest that didn’t feel like it had particularly high stakes as they hadn’t spent too much time investing in the park cats. Some characters were really fun but it felt like they were struggling to get the word count to the usual level so a lot was filler or reiteration

So, this book had its good parts and its. . .less good parts.  I really enjoyed going back to the Dawn of the Clans era, which is my favorite arc, and seeing familiar cats from a new perspective.  It was also nice to see the origins of RiverClan in a more thorough way, which was not something that we got out of Dawn of the Clans.  And Night.  She was amazing and one of the best female characters in Warriors.  Such a nice narrative foil to Riverstar.  I didn't mind the rehashing of the events in Dawn of the Clans, but there were definitely some parts that we didn't need to go over again.  And that would have left more room for the rest of the book, which felt very rushed.  There were too many conflicting plot points going on and not enough time to wrap them up.  I did enjoy the contrast between Riverstar's thoughts and what he said (I actually found him as a narrator to be quite funny), but I don't think that was intentional.  The book tried to do a lot of things, and didn't quite manage to execute most of them.  Still, it was nice to see Gray Wing (my favorite Warriors character) again.

I did not think I’d be reading a Warrior Cats book in the year of our lord 2023 and I did not think I would be giving it four stars but here we are!

This was a fun journey, one that brought back memories of my childhood spent devouring the Warriors series. This book didn’t disappoint either, a fun journey of a character that had always been my favorite when reading Dawn Of The Clans. Riverstar is such a fun character and this book definitely expanded on his character in a sweet and satisfying way!

I loved the friendship between him and Night, and how they were allowed to simply be friends. It’s refreshing seeing two characters in a strong friendly relationship instead of forcing a romance onto the two of them.

The only reason I took a star off was the grammar, tense, and pronoun mistakes that this book seems to have in abundance. It was incredibly disappointing to see them in a book as good as this one.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would!!
Everything is well written from the storyline to Riverstar internal struggle of loyalty.
Also that ending!! That ending was the best ending ever as it reached a conclusion and a strong sense of hope as well as the determination of Riverclan to fight for what is theirs!

I’ve always wanted to learn more about Riverstar ever since I finished Dawn of the Clans. Despite the many, many…many mistakes in this book (mostly grammar and name mistakes) ((like seriously was this book even edited?)) it was still enjoyable, and it was nice to see things from Riverstar’s point of view. The downside is that most of the book is just reiterating stuff that happened in DotC, but it skips time often enough that it doesn’t feel like a drag.
Also Omg Riverstar has a MATE and KITS, I don’t think this was known before. He and Finch were pretty cute, even if their relationship kind of came on out of nowhere. Overall pretty good for a recent super edition 👍
