Fudge books were my favorite Blume books.
My sister (Peter) use to read them to me (Fudge)
And she would give Fudge the funniest voice.

I absolutely love these books. I love Fudge and Peter and the way the family interacts with one another. What a great story.

Gotta love Fudge! Perfect corollary to the Ramonas and Clementines of literature.

The mini book club I have is very excited to read this, we'll see how it goes!

Note for teachers : less outdated than Ramona, only minor technological references like "listening to tapes". Excellent for inferring lessons.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this was one of my most favorite books as a kid so I was super excited to share the audio book with Emily. It doesn’t feel old or dated at all. Kids being kids is a timeless sort of thing.

Judy Blume has a pitch-perfect ear for writing about children and adolescents in a real way. Mrs. Elliott read this book to our class in third grade. There was a run on the book in the library for months.

This is the story of Peter Hatcher, whose life is upended when his parents decide to try living in Princeton, NJ and have a baby whom Peter fears will turn out to be as annoying as his brother Fudge.

This book was very clearly set in a different time, more so than the others. From Peter's responsibility as a fifth-grader to care for his Kindergarten brother (both at home and at school, when the parents couldn't be reached), to 5 year old Fudge biking all over town....it was definitely the 70s.

Have now read this book multiple times, this time with my youngest child. We both laughed throughout the story and enjoyed the struggles that Peter went through with his little brother, Fudge. Can't wait to read the next one together with my son!
