A little too much pedophilia and perversion for my tastes. As I continue in this series, Anna Pigeon's encounters have become more and more disturbing. Not sure if I want to continue the series.

I love Anna Pigeon stories... this one goes down a deep dark hole that creeps me out and sets my teeth on edge... its not the writing, its the topic.

Terribly dark storyline but told with such detail and urgency that it keeps you turning pages and wondering just How Anna Pigeon will get out of this one alive.
Graphic: Child abuse, Death, Pedophilia, Kidnapping, and Fire/Fire injury

Anna Pigeon falls into the mystery of a mother who sets fire to her home with her husband and children asleep inside. Disturbing and psychological from the outset. Pretty graphic and some of the content is definitely unsettling. Well-plotted and evocative of the feel of New Orleans.

I think Barr May have gone just a little too far with this one.

Anna is recuperating mentally and physically at a friend's house in New Orleans. But what is meant to be a relaxing, stress-free period turns into a search to bust a child sex ring.
Pretty disturbing. Not interested in hearing graphic descriptions of how the children are treated!

The topic of human slavery is so very difficult to read about. I hope we can return to the National parks.

Again, as in her last Anna Pigeon novel, it's engaging writing but hard to suspend disbelief at points.
