Meh. There is a reason we only know the stories of Ali Baba and Aladdin, maybe Sinbad. All the others are magical, mystical, but also sort of the same lessons to be learned. I just got bored of all the magical birds and flawless morality.

I couldn't stand the way women are treated and murdered like they are dispensable

The stories here are lovely however, every villian was described as having black skin. After a while, I just couldn't take it so I abandoned reading it.

These stories are a pillar of my childhood so finally invested in getting a fancy copy for my house. Hopefully this is a nice version

I enjoyed this read. I find it especially intriguing to see how the incorporated the Arabic culture into those times frames. This was a great classic and maybe one of my favourites but not my all time favorite because I had some issues with it. This book contains 33 stories. Each special and interesting in their own way. The stories I loved were Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, and The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor (First Voyage, Second Voyage, Third Voyage, Fourth Voyage, Fifth Voyage, Six Voyage, and the Seventh and Last Voyage), and The Littke Hunchback. I would give these stories 5/5, and the rest of the stories I like them, but not as much as the ones I gave a 5/5. The other stories got a rating of 3.5-4.5, as there was always something missing from each. It was funny to see how the author protrays each character to its time frame, therefore there is a uniqueness to each story which makes the book special to me. 4.5/5, rounded to a
5/5.

First time I have read the non-Disneyized version of these tales. I enjoyed them, makes me curious to read a good translation of the rest of the tales.

At times it was humorous listening to the Arabian tales read by a man with a British accent. There were some portions when he got very excited and slipped into a Scottish brogue.
