The whole series is wonderful and this final adventure is so satisfying. I found it extremely gratifying to explore the logic underpinning the magical system we've come to know through the scientific minds of the main characteristics, and all in the course of a murder mystery and romance. A pleasure to read and reread. Can't wait for what Lancaster writes next!

A Rake if His Own was a fun, enemies to lovers, cozy fantasy romance. It is a spin off couple from the previous books. A murder mystery filled with sassy banter.

I am happy they got a story, even if the central mystery was kind of superfluous

“We’re not enemies, Prince Melodramatic. We’re just… I don’t know, antagonistic acquaintances.”

Marius is a botany nerd who can read minds and who has to work with the infuriating fae prince Rakken who's too arrogant for his own good when one of Marius' colleagues is murdered. These two have great banter and do enemies-to-lovers so well.

I loved this book. I haven't read the previous 4 in the series but this one works as a standalone. I really enjoyed the audiobook, I thought the narrator was great.
