I haven't read a Carly Phillips in awhile and I still like her short, sweet romances but I wasn't as head-over-heels for her characters in this story as I know I could be. Something was lacking in it for me. A solid 3.5 stars. Excited to continue with the duology though because I enjoy Hunter and Molly's characters more.

I remember reading this one when it was published the first time, and I loved it just as much this time around! Carly never disappoints me, and this one is no exception. Quick, light read with relatable characters and reasonable story arc. Enjoy!

This book is not typical for me. I picked it up at the general store in our cottage town (population 500) because I absolutely needed a book. I didn't look at the publisher (Harlequin) until after I was back at the cottage. The story itself was intriguing, but the 8-paged sex scene was a bit much. Not that I don't enjoy a little steamy detail every here and there, but 8 pages just isn't for me.

Too predictable, too much nitpicking on emotions, and characters over analyze every thing a lot. Too much trying for a simple plot to become big.

This particular book relied too much on tell me, rather than show me. That, combined with the fact that it hinted that it was romantic suspense but didn't deliver, made it impossible to keep reading. Even more annoying, the PDF that I got had layout issues and I had to try 3 different apps to read it on my iPad.

Lacey’s parents unexpectedly die when she is 17, leaving her in the care of her Uncle Marc. In the months that follow, Marc becomes abusive and tries to manipulate Lacey to sign over the money/house that her parents left her. To escape her abusive, money hungry uncle, Lacey does the most unthinkable thing a 17 year old girl can do...she fakes her own death! Her best friends Ty and Hunter help her pull this off. I really enjoyed this book. Some of it was a bit hard to believe - for example when Lilly/Lacey first went missing etc wasn't really dealt with. However, generally, this was a good holiday book to read. I enjoyed the storyline and it wasn't too obvious with the outcome regarding her Uncle and the executor. I look forward to reading more of her books.

This is book 1 in the Ty and Hunter series and it features Ty and Lilly. These two, along with Hunter, have a sort of tragic past. Now, 10 years later, Lilly is back from the dead to claim what’s rightfully hers. The drama is fantastic! The romance is sizzling, beautiful and meant to be. The sense of friendship/family between these three friends is real and unbreakable.
The story line is fantastic and most of the characters are too. I’m not a big fan of Molly. She just doesn’t appreciate a good man when she has one. Her loss! I’m definitely looking forward to more from this amazing author.
