This book had me smiling from ear to ear, had me sobbing so hard that I had to put the book down several times to wipe my eyes, but lastly, the development of everything when you think the author couldn’t take you on a better adventure from the first book! She did just that! This book kept getting better and better, and I believe one of my favorite parts were the queer romance stories that were put in here very subtly, but very beautifully. Golly, the monsters were sooooo perfect!!

The two timelines worked a bit better in this book than it did in the first one, but I think it just doesn’t work for me. It felt like I was getting spoilers instead of hearing the story and I would’ve much preferred it being in order of events. The switch also just brought me out of the story often.
Also, the constant use of “The bone witch” “The heart forger” “The Asha”, is pretty annoying to me.
However, I do care about the characters, even the daeva, and I will be reading the last book.

This is way better than the first book. We're really getting into the politics and the back stabbing that drives the world. The romance feels like it was earned and the reveals about some of the characters were absolutely amazingly well done.
