Cute story about friendship ❤️ 3.5 stars

The whole concept of a fake bridesmaid is weird. Just hire a planner? Also not a business that has longevity, you’d age out pretty quickly. All the characters felt a bit 2D. And it didn’t bring me through emotions really. But it was a fun story. I chuckled a few times.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Sophie is a professional bridesmaid, she is hired by a bride to be their bridesmaid and help organise the wedding. When she lands the high profile wedding of Lady Cordelia Swann by her mother Lady Victoria Swann. Cordelia isn’t happy that her mom has hired Sophie and does everything she can to make Sophie change her mind and leave Cordelia sort the wedding arrangements out. Can Sophie cope with Cordelia and give her the wedding she wants or will she be driven away.

A good read.

I really enjoyed The Secret Bridesmaid - listening to the audiobook felt like watching a British romcom. I pictured Kate Winslet as Sophie.

Sophie is the secret bridesmaid - she’s a professional bridesmaid who steps in to help brides who want some assistance but not a full wedding planner. To everyone else she pretends to just be an old friend of the bride who they never met because she had been living abroad or whatever story they come up with. All weddings come with their own challenges but Sophie has just been hired for her most challenging wedding yet.

It’s a royal wedding with over 400 guests and has the potential to open doors to many high society events. There’s just one small problem - the bride. Not only does she seem extremely high maintenance she is also NOT on board with her mom’s decision to hire a professional bridesmaid. Sophie is determined to stay professional and win her over by doing a great job - but is it worth it? And add to the mix Cordelia’s brother Tom. Are there sparks there? But how can there be when Sophie is lying about who she really is and has a signed contract that she can’t tell the truth?

I really enjoyed this book so much - would love to see it on the screen. Personally I would have loved there to be more romance to it but I still highly recommend this for a fun summer read!! Thank you to St Martin’s Press for the free book. I also listened to the audiobook which I would highly recommend!

Very cute and funny, sometimes a bit millennial-y but I mean that makes sense and it’s fine

OMG, I want to have a bridesmaid like Sophie so so bad!

This was so entertaining, funny, and sweet. I really love how this book was centered on friendship rather than on romance, as its focuses mainly on Sophie's and Cordelia's relationship development. Which were probably the funniest and most adorable moments. And I definitely want a bridesmaid like Sophie! She was so a great character, and she showed so much development. I really loved her and Cornelia I want to be besties with them!

And I don't think there's much more to say, this book is exactly what the summary says it is but is really great, super funny, and sweet and I want to recommend this to everyone.

I loved this book.

This book is about Sophie, a professional bridesmaid who is tasked with being a bridesmaid to Cordelia, an heiress who doesn't want her around and is set on making her life miserable until she quits.

This book is funny and touching. It's so nice to read a book with a main focus on the complexities of female friendship in your late 20's.

The characters are interesting and well rounded. The romantic aspects are a nice touch. The settings are fun. This truly feels like a 2000's Romcom/chick flick. There's no annoying political undertones, which I love.

It gets a little slow in the middle and I found myself very stressed out by Cordelia's antics but it pays off in the end. Definitely worth the read.

I love the way Katy writes friendship. The romance was minimal in this one but I loved the main characters development and loved the friendship and the whole concept of a bridesmaid for hire. Loved!
