Some people will enjoy this book and other won’t have the patience for it. That is ok. I enjoyed it, but was also frequently asking myself why I kept on going. I was an addict that couldn’t stop. I think that shows some talent of the story. It’s about a married couple that basically just won’t talk to each other about what really is going on so shenanigans ensue. The characters were likable, but I also felt the need to shake them frequently. Secondary characters were on par. I would definitely read more books from this series.

I voluntarily read an early copy.

I loved this fun historical romance. The hero and heroine met alone on a balcony, fell in love, married and then lived unhappily ever after. Four years ago, a year after the wedding, James and Violet had a fight that cause the two to take separate rooms and live separate lives. When Violet receives a letter about James having an accident, she rushes to his side. She finds out that he didn't want her to know, and this rises her ire. She decides to give James a dose of his own medication. Thus begins a tit-for-tat game and friends take sides. Will pride and secrets keep the two from finding love again.

This historical romance is a lot of fun, and reminds me of Lisa Kleypas (The Wallflowers series). I enjoyed the banter between the Violet and James, but also found their separate background stories compelling. This is the perfect escape novel...I highly recommend this one for the summer!

I felt like it dragged on. It also left many questions with multiple characters.

This was one fun read! Another one for my favourite tropes, a broken marriage. Our couple has been estranged for four years after a misunderstanding lead to a big argument that the couple couldn't come back from.

I really enjoyed the fire that our lady had, very much ahead of her time. As always with Regency romances, I adore the women who fight the cage that they are being forced into.

I loved the plotting and the teasing that came from the need to outwit each other in their game. There was even a FRIENDS moment in there that had me chuckling.

I do wish that the things they decided to prank each other with at the beginning were lighter and not so dismal, it would have brought a lot more fun into the equation.

The spice was great, the love story fun and also very touching and serious, watching them find their way back to each other was a joy.

I also love how the author set up the next books and I cannot wait to dive into the next romances!
