I loved the book up until the end.
The entire last 30 pages were gross. TJ was a caricature of a guy in the “friend zone” who would go to kill himself after pining over a girl for 3 years. Their conversation on the rooftop was disturbing and disgusting. People like him exist but they do not act, speak, or think like him. The author could have explored the one sided nature of their relationship, explored his perspective or experiences. Instead she tries to make him kill himself. Dr. Davis is an asshole who was never really explored as a character who could have been so much more than the overprotective and ill-informed father. Demi was a spoiled self entitled brat which worked in a lot of ways but made her difficult to root for.

I think this is definitely my favorite from the Briar U series so far! I really loved delving into Hunter’s backstory and also reading about Demi. Their story started off so different and developed in a such an interesting way, in comparison to the other Briar universe books. Also, the epilogue was slightly unexpected and it was a nice lighthearted way to end the novel.   I personally wasn’t a huge fan of the usage of the word “shrink.” Also, the hero complex that occurred at the end was quite questionable. I think the entire situation should’ve been written at a different angle, because it really just felt like the author and characters didn’t understand what was actually happening, in my opinion.
