Do you guys ever feel an intense amount of emptiness after reading a book? I used to laugh at the stories my brother would tell me, about this one series he absolutely loved and that he just could not reread because of the intense feels it made him go through. I thought I was the toughest of the toughest readers, heart of stone, heart of steel, UNFEELING. Nothing can break my ice cold mask….and then Orememe happened. Thanks Helen…auuuuuuuu(yando como loba!!)
Thank you for allowing me to read your third and last book in the Oremere chronicles before its release date this coming July 25th. In case you guys missed it, I also reviewed the first two books here! They were actually part of two blog tours hosted by Shealea, who I also must thank for introducing me to this heartbreak
Oh, and Shealea will also be hosting a blog tour for this last book starting July 15!! Please check it out once it starts. And scream and cry with everyone on the tour if you’ve read the book. You know you want to, hehe.
As for me, I will slowly be sharing some Oremere content, especially as the date of the release closes in because shouldn’t we shout to the skies about the things we love?
“WAR IS HERE, YOUR HIGHNESS. WE CAN NO LONGER DENY IT, OR TRY TO CHANGE IT. THERE IS ONLY ONE THING WE CAN DO. WE NEED TO CALL TO ARMS.”
It’s been one month since the snowslide battle in Havennesse and instead of getting better, events seem to only be getting worse. Everyone has been split up – Casimir and Bleak are in search of the Tailor and have had zero luck in finding him; Luka, Dash, and Jarel are on the heels of Mariette so that she may face justice for her betrayal; Swinton, Fiore, Ollena, and Nazuri are only barely surviving the sweltering desert plains; and tensions are high with the remaining members still at Wildenhaven
The only hope Bleak and co. have at this point is finding Prince Ermias and having the realm work together to defeat Ines, who only seems to be gathering more allies and power as the days pass
Look, I never said I was a summary pro but I feel like that’s pretty much what this book was about, which is actually pretty vague. The book continues with multiple POVs, which I always felt was very effective to develop our characters but that now seems to be serving the purpose of letting the reader know what is happening across the land now that Ines is in power. The Valians’ home has been scorched, her allies are taking their fanaticism to extremes via gruesome killings and brandings, and even villages like the Janhallow Desert who aren’t part of the battle are being affected by fleeing refugees
I really liked seeing all of these details, especially since Helen did a great job at connecting everything, making it flow as one huge event. I actually think that was one of Dash’s main roles in this book considering his gifts
Likewise, I did feel like that connection starts to loosen towards the end of the book where the battle takes place, but then, that tends to happen during huge events like that
“YOU DID NOT DESERVE THAT BEATING, DIMI.” SWINTON SPLASHED HIS FACE GENTLY, WASHING THE DRIED BLOOD FROM HIS NOSE. “WHICH ONE?”
And I did feel like there were some really convenient moments involving a certain husbando *points at quote*. It was in those moments where the tension that was being created broke for me. It made me question why things got so far when they could have been resolved so easily! And with less suffering
Still, I was glad that even among all the tension that starts from page one (and pretty much continues throughout the book), there were moments where we could crack a smile. I mean, come on, who doesn’t think Fiore and Swinton are hilarious? I love those guys and yes, I get that many lives are on the line but Swinton is my type of humor.
“EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS CHANGING”
Perhaps it’s this quote that really sums up some of the major points that happened in this book. You get a sense that many of our characters matured because of their journey since book one, others have matured because of the war, and others changed because they finally let themselves LIVE. My favorite part was definitely the growth in all of the characters and the development of their relationships. Sadly, characters fall into Major Spoilers so this is all I’ll say about this. Well, and that I was emotional!
I could do with a spin-off that doesn’t hold so much tragedy though. I feel like this would be the perfect moment for me to look for some fluffy fanfiction…
Overall I REALLY enjoyed this book. So much that I have decided to dub it my love-hate relationship book. I can’t say I’ll be able to re-read it anytime soon. There’s only so many guttings my heart can take in one go. I wish I could have rated this book a 5/5, but I just felt like at the ending (around the time Bleak starts going off on her own), the pacing seems to shift and moments begin to feel rushed. They had a big movie feel, sort of like when you cut and flashback to short or past events that do make sense visually, but that made it feel rushed on paper
“EVERYTHING IN THIS REALM HAS A COST, OLD FRIEND”
And as a series, I seriously recommend it! Please come suffer with me, I would love to cry with someone. Oh, and Ollena is my wife and I will only share with one person

Let’s make this quick and simple:
You need to read this book. The entire series of course.
It’s been a while since I was sucked in a fantasy as completely as this one.
Everything here is perfect and I am not exaggerating. Characters are likable, approachable, human and flawed, show weakness but perseverance without being cliche or cheesy. The world is fantastic and I am really sad the adventure had to stop. I could have read a lot more. The writing is very evolved and so detailed without clipping your own imagination.
Only negative point here: It's a trilogy and this is book 3

I want to thank the author, who has been so kind as to send me a copy of her book in exchange for an honest review
OMG, THE FEELS, you guys. I didn't want it to end... I think there's something in my eye 😭
I LOVED this book, all this trilogy is beautiful and it really needs and deserves more recognition, the author has done an extraordinary job with the creation of characters, world, and magic system. If you like high-fantasy, this trilogy needs to be on your list, IT'S FANTASTIC!!

4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
You can find all my reviews on my blog A Book. A Thought.
💫 Heart of Mist (The Oremere Chronicles #1)
💫 Reign of Mist (The Oremere Chronicles #2)
I've never been so slow to write a full review of a book that has moved me so much. But I had my feelings everywhere so now that I need yo calm down, I can tell you a little about it without going crazy lol.
War of Mist is a wonderful conclusion to what was a shocking trilogy, full of breathtaking moment and relatable characters. I honestly feel that it's one of those trilogies that are VERY underrated, it deserves a lot more love and recognition, so personally, I'll be talking about these books for a long time trying to convince people to read it because is REALLY WORTH IT.
As you know, due it's a third and final book, there are several things I can't talk about because they would be so many spoilers, but as always I'll try to tell you a little about my feelings while I was reading it.
This book takes places about 4 months after the events of the previous book, and we follow our beloved characters joining forces to go to war against an evil queen.
I LOVE how this book felt even darker and more magical than the previous one, I really like how the author exceeds herself and every time she gets a more solid work with each book. She has added to a story of struggle and revenge, a lot of emotions, it feels for some reason a very warm feeling when you read these books, and that has generated me a great commitment to history and has surfaced my feelings for the characters and for their personal stories.
I've already said this in my previous reviews but the world-building is sensational. All The Upper Realm is wonderfully designed to build a story with many scenarios as beautiful as cruel, which end up providing you a very atmospheric book, which is one of my favorite things when I read a book, I'm always waiting to feel myself in there and surrounded of all its landscapes. I can't mention my favorite place because of those damn spoilers lol, but if you've read the previous books, you know. After that, I love Wildenhaven so much.
The writing style is just SO INTENSE and ADDICTIVE. I can't help but highlight it in each of my reviews, and I don't really regret it, the author has a wonderful pen and a mastermind to create intense plots, full of passion, mystery, magic and heartbreaking scenes. I can't wait for her future works, now I want to read EVERYTHING she writes.
The characters are so special to me, they've really taken up a lot of my heart and kept me on the edge of my seat during all these books.
I really like how each of them has had to deal with a pain, a suffering or an addiction, and get out of that in order to move forward and finally overcome it to face future challenges and fight for a greater good.
The growth of each of them makes me feel very proud, even of Bleak, with whom I've had a relationship with ups and downs, but right now I adore her, and I'm very pleased by the things that she has managed to overcome and how wise she's now. I can't stop talking about Swinton and Fi, my two favorite characters, they're EVERYTHING, I love them, characters so complex and well thought out. Fi's a beautiful human being, a person who can be totally funny and carefree, and in a second become a whole threat. I also admire his loyalty to those whom he cares for. Swinton, in my opinion, is the character with the greatest growth, perhaps along with Dash, whom I also adore, he has had to go through very hard situations and ended up being a totally different character from the one we met in the first book. He doesn't always show it, but I think he has a huge heart and seeing how he cares for his loved ones is beautiful, an INCREDIBLE man. I get so emotional when I think of him!
This book in particular, despite having 500 pages, it reads very quickly, the author has created a wonderful ending with a lot of action and high-impacting moment. Something I like very much about War of Mist is that it focuses on the important things and creating shocking outcomes for each plotline, I don't think any story has felt flat or loose, everything has been very solid and strong, I LOVED IT!
Maybe this is a trilogy that starts like many we know, but its development proves to be unique and really original. I recommend it a lot if you like high-fantasy, complex magical systems, deep characters and plots that will take your breath away, the plot twists are really incredible. Read this trilogy you'll NOT REGRET! I'm going to miss the characters and the world a lot, but I'm ready for the next works of the author

Have I just found one of my all time favourite series' of this year? Yes I damn well have! The journey that we have taken with Bleak throughout these books has been a wild one and then some. The emotions that War of Mist has made me feel, let's just say I had a tissue box handy at a few points there (mainly because I am an emotional person and it doesn't take much for me to cry). The growth of the characters from book one to now is utterly brilliant. I am sure that if you were to meet the book one characters and tell them where they would be by book three, they would look at you and laugh, but the events that shaped them into what they are, I am glad I got to experience it with them. This wonderful conclusion to the Oremere Chronicles is by far one of the best books I have read so far this year.

Culmination of many journeys and pov into the final battle. The big bad was one dimensional and predictable. The main Fmc grows a lot and learns to lead. A new kingdom emerges with unused coffers (?!)
It’s kind of let down, the story has great features but ultimately I didn’t find the characters really likeable or personable. They really felt like the same flat person with slight changes, and there’s very little chemistry between them to keep things interesting. There doesn’t need to be a grand romance but even the friendship between the two main fmcs was boring, they’re clearly drawn together solely by circumstance and didn’t feel like a genuine connection.
