Wow, that ending, i need the next book immediately.

There was a slow start, but once you hit the 50% mark questions, start being answered, and you really can't put it down. It was interesting to learn more about how time travel works and what the main arc for the trilogy actually is.

One of my favourite parts of this series is how the author puts you into the different time periods they travel to. They do a great job of immersing you in both the times and the monster world of markets selling contraband tech.

I do wish Joan knew a little more about things in this one. We repeat situations and conversations from the first book because of the timeline switch, and it made the first half of the book drag a little. And as our villain says, it makes Joan predictable

I will say there was not enough aaron in this, but it looks like there will be plenty in the next one. He's one of the most complex characters in the series, and I loved getting to see more of his sensitive side through his past.

Overall, I really enjoyed it, and I'm sad to have to wait so long for the final book. I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

I wish I could tell you everything that happened in this book, because every single chapter, every single sentence, every single word! is so unique and so filled with information that I couldn’t put the book down, literally I read this book so fast and there was not a single thing that I would change.

I felt Joan’s pain. I felt her doubt, I felt her frustrations and heartbreaks so deeply, I just wish more people read this book so we could discuss ideas of what book three might bring.

I don’t even know who I root for, I want Nick and Joan to have the happy ending they should have had, but I also would love to see Aaron find happiness and I can’t help but feel so horribly bad for Eleanor (new character that brings so much havoc!), I just… there is so much going on and I don’t know how I’m going to be able to wait however long it takes for book three to come out.

The only thing I do know is, that this book is one of my favorites, if not my favorite books of the year, and if you have the chance to listen to the audiobook I would recommend it so much, the narrator is so freaking amazing!

Like I said, I could talk about this book, all day and all night and not be tired of it, but just know you need to read this series and join the Monsters club. It’s so amazing and everyone should read it.

My review actual review contains spoilers from Only a Monster so I decided not to post it all here, but you can definitely read it over on my blog just go to this link.

Thank you so much to Hodder&Stoughton and NetGalley for an e-arc of this book.

This was a solid second entry in a trilogy. Rex toy a lot of second books have been disappointing but Never a Hero kept the interest up.

I liked the continued world building in this book, and that we got some answers from the first book (nothing worse than all secrets being kept for the last book).

I do feel like the characters didn’t develop a lot here, so I am hoping for some good character development in the last book.
