Super fun read! Sasha the snarky unicorn needs an origin novel of her own, she’s such a fun character.

This book is a definite must-read for fantasy lovers!

There's Eli, a mercenary with a conscience, and Sasha, THE BEST DAMN UNICORN OF ALL TIME.

The two partners in crime (literally) are on the run. After a job gone wrong that leads to a hefty bounty on their heads, Eli and Sasha head to The Green-the one place where they may be safe. But a quiet, inconspicuous life is not one that either of these two were born for and they quickly accept a job from a local that takes them further into The Green, where dangerous creatures and alleged black sorcerers reside. Needless to say, things don't go according to plan, something readers quickly learn seems to be the norm for Eli and Sasha. And it's amazing because that's when some of the best moments in the book happen.

“Sasha.” Eli turned back to his companion. “Can you hear me?”
“Eli…” Her voice came out in a rasp. “Are you there?”
“I’m here.” He stroked a hand down her neck. “You saved us,” he told her. “You saved us all.”
“Eli,” she repeated.
“What?”
“I can’t see anything, you poxy idiot. Did we win?”

This story is action packed, funny, dramatic, suspenseful and the PERFECT introduction for these characters and fantasy world. Seriously, I LOVE SASHA. She's the perfect balance to Eli's seriousness.

There is so much potential for this series and I can't wait to see what adventures Eli and Sasha have next!

In the words from a famous movie to closely describe it, "Grandpa: Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles…". A delightful romp.

So fun! A mix of fairytale, adventure, humor, and swamp animals with large teeth. The main characters are two mercenaries, one a human named Eli and the other, a battle unicorn named Sasha. On page 41, there's a snippet of conversation between the two that is a good example their dynamic and the tone of the book:

(Eli) "...I don't like The Green either, but this is as good a job as we're likely to find, so let's go out there and do what we're good at."
(Sasha)"Rush into situation we don't understand, surviving by luck and mad schemes?"
Eli adjusted his hat. "Exactly."

There's also a hint that the series will continue, and I look forward to reading more of the adventures of Eli and Sasha!

While it took me a bit to get invested in the characters and the story, by the end I was definitely ready for the next adventure to begin. Eli and Sasha’s relationship reminds me off all those work partnerships that I love in my favorite movies and tv shows, from cop shows, to Firefly. The grumpy banter back and forth, and the total trust and understanding, it really warms the heart. I’m actually bummed that this is a recent release, because I want more! I’m ready to dive into a whole series of their adventures.
