Definitely hooked me from the beginning with a plot that was different and interesting. A heavy girl with deep insecurities. A talented boy with an abusive past and a learning disability. How they come together and are torn apart. I’d say 75% of the story was so intriguing. The other 25% felt wordy- like there was just too much going on and it made the novel feel unnecessarily long. Although I love a good romance where characters have a lot of trauma to work thru, some of the toxic behavior that comes from Phoenix towards Lennon, seemed incredibly intense for her to continue to have feelings for him (even if they only seemed physical for a while). All that to say, it was an entertaining read with a HEA.

I've seen this book on tiktok many times and it's been on my TBR for a long time. And I finally began reading. And what can I say... I couldn't put it back down! I read it in one sitting.

I felt all the highs and all the lows. Phoenix and Lennon stole my heart.

There are so many bits and pieces that are heartbreaking and Phoenix makes so many mistakes. But I also loved that he could open up to Lennon.

I did think Lennon deserved the whole explanation. Got the explanation between the lines. She did get apologies and bits of the truth, but I missed out on the full honesty (no premeditated game).

I also found the ending disappointing... I would have liked a few extra chapters. Lennon comes up with a whole plan and then you don't see the plan being executed.

But otherwise this story is definitely worth 5 stars! This book was so good! I can't wait to get started on the Skylar and Memphis story. I also see something happening with Storm and Quinn (Best-friends-sister)

The fat shaming is a lot… I wanted a strong plus sized sexy lead and instead we got someone who was ruthlessly tormented. The author also makes a ton of comments on her diet because god forbid we acknowledge that people just exist in all sizes… not because they eat three cheeseburgers. They never discuss what the “ skinny “ girls eat.

That being said it read really fast and I enjoyed parts of it .

❤❤❤Phoenix and Lennon❤❤❤

Wow I seriously could not put this story down once I started late last night/early this morning.... The writing was amazing, the storyline, every character, it was just amazing to me. This standalone could have easily been a duet or even trilogy. Over 700 pages for this and I nearly didn't put it down to sleep. Like I could totally use a major extended epilogue just because I loved Phoenix and Lennon that much. Honestly this was definitely more than a five star rating for me. I just loved it that much. I've read read Royal Hearts Academy and Hate Me by Ashley so I think I'll be adding the rest of work to my TBR list just because.
