This was absolutely awful. I was so tempted to DNF it, but I hate doing that.

Lilly was a terrible character. She pestered him to tell her about his history, then she would get all judgy.

There were countless times when thoughts didn’t line up with actions/words.

He used certain names for certain body parts. Normally I like it when they are used, but here it didn’t feel organic, like it was added for shock value.

Mel cornered him in his shop, and physically pushed him. but he couldn’t fend her off? He’s a huge guy., and she’s supposed to be tiny.

The sex scenes were ridiculous. His behaviors/mannerism didn’t match up with how he behaved outside of the bedroom.

Then there was the scene skipping. A scene would start but important things had happened that were not shown. Then the next scene would be about what was missed. Frustrating.

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

Lily and Lucas both have baggage and scars that run deep. Something immediately draws them to each other. Lily sees Lucas for who he is, and she may be the first to see what's underneath the tattoos. She's willing to take the good and the bad, nightmares and all. There relationship is passionate and fast. But there is such a rawness to it. They strip each other bare, no hiding behind the scars.

Broken Scars is an emotional roller coaster for sure. It will rip your heart out and leave you gasping. The ending was freaking perfect for them!

The blurb of this book intrigued me. What I found inside almost broke me. The things Lucas endured were horrendous. My heart ached for him. I liked That Lily helped him heal. That being said, other parts of the story I struggled with. The story at times drove me nuts. Lily was hard for me to like much of the time with her back and forth. Parts of the Story and characters from the past didn't seem to make sense as to why they even needed to be there.

Lucas and his backstory kept this book afloat for me. Just be prepared that there are a crapton of triggers.

Dark Story with HEA

If someone put cups the back of their neck one more time!!! I swear if I took a shot for every time someone cupped the back of their neck in this story, I’d die from alcohol poisoning. Lol.

This was a darkish story line so if rape and child abuse of the worse kind is a trigger... skip this story.

Overall, this was a great love story. A little angst.
Some action/mystery. And a whole lot of good sex.

I wanted to like the story and characters.
I think the dark elements were good, the sexy/taboo was pretty good.
It just didn’t hold my attention, it dragged.
The characters aren’t multi dimensional enough for me to care about them.
I didn’t feel the connection they had was shown in conversations or in actions.

I think it has a good premise and possibility, the execution just fell short for me.
The drama and surprises/ plot twists didn’t excite me and they should have.
Unfortunate, it had the basics for a good dark romance with damaged characters.

It was really hard for me to get on board with this book. Although it appears the two main characters really love one another deep down, the violence in the beginning (ie the heroine is smashed into a stall wall in a bathroom because he is mad to see her out to dinner with an ex) turned me off. I understood it was going to have a lot of darkness given the topic, but I just couldn't get past how he seemed abusive and toxic in the beginning and she just breezed over that and fell for him anyway. I just have a problem with that personally as a storyline... However I did find the writing very well done and the story kept me interested. I just couldn't get on board with the romance aspect.

I can’t believe this book!

It was the most beautiful book I’ve read in a while! Omg! Lily and Lucas fit together so well. The issues they dealt with and how they faced their problems and insecurities head on was beautiful and inspiring! You’d think two addicts would take each other towards their downfall but these two fought against those odds and made it out. The book wrapped up everything perfectly! All the way down to baby Ettie and Lucas finally getting the mom he so desperately wanted! This book was beautifully written and I’m glad i got to read it!
