Cath is pretty much me, minus the writing fan-fiction thing. I really loved aspects in this book and I liked the "coming of age" plot. I didn't LOVEEE this book. But I did enjoy it.

Fangirl was on my TBR list since the day I heard about it from the book community online. So when I came across it in the library I jumped at the chance to read it. It was a very light-hearted contemporary read and I really liked the ease of Rainbow Rowell's writing style. Also, it is a good book to pick up if you want to experience big changes coming your way like going to university.

It starts out with Cath's state of confusion and how real her fears of being surrounded by new people are. Her experiences are relatable but also eye-opening because, well change can be a scary thing at times.

Fangirl was very different to any book I've read as it had a story within a story. I honestly did not like this because I felt like it hindered the main characters from developing more. This also meant that the story had a very slow pace which I wasn't a fan of and an ending which felt too abrupt.

On the bright side though is the character Levi who is sooo sweet and funny you are sure to fall in love with him. His character is endearing and genuine. If anything, this book is worth reading just because of him.

Another great story with tons of layers. I'd classify it as New Adult rather than Young Adult, as it follows twins starting college. It deals with themes of family, mental health, identity, love, and -very tangentially- fandom. Her characters have a depth to them that is beautiful and rare. There are so many poignant moments. I wish there were more if it.

This was amazing I think it really peaked in the middle of the book. However I feel like after the dad went to the hospital, wren going didn’t pack the same punch. That’s really my only nit pick for the story.

I don't think I have enough words to describe how much I love Fangirl. I read it first as a freshman in high school and today almost 10 years later I still love it just as much if not more. I was so afraid to reread it but it held up so well.  I really enjoyed listing to the the audiobook this time, it added a lot to the story, especially switching narrators to add a distinction between Cath's story and her writing.

Cath, Levi, and Regan are so interesting and unique. Cath is shy and doesn't want to make any friends when she starts college. She only cares about writing Carry On. Levi lights up every room and is the definition of perfect. Regan is snarky and sassy and I love her friendship with Cath. But of course they aren't perfect and that's why I love them so much, they feel so real.

My only real negative is that I wish it was longer. I feel like there could have been more at the end and it was a little rushed.
