Olive with all of her persnicketiness, quirkiness and bluntness is always an entertaining delight! Listened to the audio version but was unable to indicate this as Goodreads seems to be having its own quirkiness these days.

More cohesive than the first - it works well enough as a stand alone novel that I fully recommend skipping Olive Kittredge entirely. I found this book wholly more relatable and enjoyable, it felt like it delved into a broader range of human emotion, reflecting on life's experiences and relationships. I appreciated the introspection Olive developed over the book, in addition to her sass and caring nature.

Reading in the time of COVID-19 has been challenging to say the least. Even the most compelling material can't keep my mind from wandering to the latest news updates. I think the mayhem definitely lessened my ability to enjoy Olive, Again as I would have if life was more normal.
That being said, I really enjoyed spending time with Olive and the other characters in her Maine community when I could get my mind to focus. Elizabeth Strout beautifully captures the tragedy and beauty of everyday existence.
I might switch to re-reading old favorites for the time being as way to comfort myself during these uncertain times. And I'd love to revisit this book when my mind is more clear.
