rating this a 3.75 because i enjoyed the book and read it fairly quick. it was really cute in parts. i’m usually not a fan of the “insta-love” trope which this book definitely fell on the line with but i enjoyed it so much more than mr. masters because of the relationship.

i don’t know if this is a T L Swan thing because i’ve just started reading her books, but i feel like the main issues of the characters and the resolution part is always sped up. i’ve said the same about mr. masters and was disappointed it was similar.

Spoiler like i understand that spencer and charlotte love each other but how did one conversation that mainly consisted of a lack of communication resolve the issue of the letter? like to me it felt very rushed and like a how tf did this happen. also, after charlotte comes to greece and they fight about the letter and she wakes up next to him to then jerk him off when he’s mad at her and asleep?!? i really didn’t like that part because i felt like that was overstepping a boundary. i know they very clearly express their feelings in sex, but damn this man is mad as fuck at her and you decide that’s your best thing to do? i don’t know that rubbed me the wrong way - no pun intended.

also, the arguments about charlottes family and things, i feel like it was a constant his/her way or the highway. i said this about mr. masters too that i feel like compromise is never actually achieved. it’s just sucking it up for the other to be happy and not addressing the fact that they’re doing that. it’s like they all of a sudden have a change of heart as a complete 180. it just doesn’t make sense to me and maybe i’m not reading as in detailed as i should but that’s definitely the vibe i got.

besides that, i liked the book. definitely not a four stars for me because of those issues but still a book i don’t regret reading. there were very cute moments!

The second book in the Mr Series.

From the moment that Spencer saw Charlotte, he wanted her. He's a millionaire with the worst reputation of being a womaniser. She is a billionaire from one of the richest families in England. They came from different worlds, with different morals and beliefs. But he didn't stop until he had her.

I liked Spencer. I thought he was funny and a bit of an ass. Do I agree with everything he did throughout? No. But we move. Him and Charlotte actually working really well together.

The past caught up and causes massive friction in the relationship. There was some unnecessary drama but hey, I enjoyed the read.

Good spice too!

SOME OF MY FAVOURITE QUOTES FROM THE BOOK:

"Maybe I'm sick of the afters, Charlotte. Maybe I want a before"

"Being naughty is so much fun"

"Well, I'm twenty-five... with thirteen years experience"

"All this time, I thought I was broken. It turns out I was just waiting for you"

"We meet people at certain times of our lives for reasons unknown. But I know exactly why I met you. You taught me how to love, and how to be loved in the most beautiful way"

"You were supposed to stay by my side when things got rough"

"Every day with you is my fantasy, angel. Every single day"

"I think your life is just about to begin and you will become the woman you were born to be"

"I like strong women, Charlotte, and just because you haven't been allowed to be one, it doesn't mean you aren't one"

CW spoiler: OW drama. MMC slept with someone else before he got with FMC, but after he met her (FMC) and made his interest known and she rejected him. More OW drama but no cheating/almost cheating.

Quick Info
Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone
Part of a Series?: Yes

Meeting the Characters
Spencer Jones
Charlotte Prescott
Harold Prescott
Edward Prescott
----------------------------------
What happens?
Spencer spots Charlotte from across the room at a big social event near her home. Charlotte also spots him and is warned off of him as he has a reputation as a player. Spencer is warned off Charlotte because her father is an earl and her brother is very overprotective of her.
Despite attempts at distancing herself from him and him from her they keep getting thrown together.
Final thoughts
I was really rooting for them but Charlotte isn't exactly easy to like all the time. Shes quite pampered and sheltered but she is trying to not be its just not believeable when shes always had a lot of money and so has grown up with a different life than most.
I found Spencer almost creepy at points, I liked him one minute and then the next I wasn't sure.
Would I read again?: Maybe
