I had basement level expectations for this book. I did not like Prudence the first book in Gail Carriger’s newish series, The Custard Protocol. It had run full bore over the line from precious too ridiculous. Plus, there was almost no plot until the last 50 pages.

Reading Imprudence was a relief. Don’t get me wrong, these novels are not going to win any awards and they are a bit of a fast-food snack of a book. But it was entertaining, and that was a relief.

This book closes many of the storylines left open from the Parasol Protectorate series. For that I am grateful to Ms. Carriger. But she also forwarded a plot for her new group of characters, several of which are the children of the characters from the last series. I think I'm still willing to give this series a chance.
3 of 5 stars.

I enjoyed this book more than the first of this series it took the characters further and developed them better and I enjoyed being able to have a resolution to Alexia and Conall's love story it was a very fun book but I would still rather reread the parisol protectorate prudence is a little bit irritating.... she doesn't live up to her mother's legacy maybe she is just very young and written that way but I'm still not sold.

I don't know why I read this one after I didn't like book one very much. Maybe because I love Prudence's parents SO much I want to know what else happens in their world? Rue is just not a likable character to me, she doesn't have her mother's intelligence or charisma. And the long descriptions of outfits...and the romance with really no chemistry... this is where I will leave Miss Prudence Alessandra Maccon Akeldama.
