If you’re into faeries then yes this is for you. For me, it’s not my thing but it was okay.

An interesting take on the tales. Makes me interested to see where book 2 takes it

I was thoroughly into the premise of this--I love fairy tale retellings--both Aurora and Isabelle sounded like amazing characters and I adore the idea that sisters are going to fight for each other. However, the whole execution I think faltered. I enjoyed reading it because the exciting premise was there but time and time again, the writing just didn't feel up to par. Third-person present made it feel like I was reading a summary of the events instead of actually feeling like I was there. The whole love-triangle shenanigans aren't my thing either. I'm just hoping
SpoilerAurora and Isabelle do not end up like Malfleur and Belcoeur. It feels like it's setting up for that (because love triangles galore? Why not get both sisters in on it) but then will probably stop it at the very end and go haha! made you think that would happen!

As a whole, the story was enjoyable but I liked the sound of the premise much better than the execution. And because it ended at a cliffhanger, guess I'll be on board to see what happens next.

I read this book in one sitting, it's a quick read but I feel as though it should have taken me longer??
This book SOUNDS amazing, it's a unique retelling, with incredibly interesting characters but the plot just lost me.

I love the characters, one of the sister is blind and the other has no voice and no sense of touch. That was so interesting to read and made this book stand out. They are both strong characters who develop well throughout the story.

When it came to the plot I felt that there was just too much going on. There's stories within stories and each characters past and present is interweaving with others and you start making links between characters and someone else is thrown in. It's a really good story and I feel like if there wasn't so many POVs I would have really really enjoyed it.

However I did still like it and I'm excited to see what's going to happen next because by the ending of the book I was pretty engrossed in what happened and it was a super abrupt ending (not complaining) so I definitely need the next book!

I'm gonna be lenient and say 3 stars.
This book was just FULL of contradictions for me. Ok, first of all, I'm just kinda salty that seriously ISBE GOT ALL THE DRAMA AND INTERESTING PARTS OF THIS BOOK. Isn't this suppose to be an AURORA retelling?!?!? Now that's out of the way, I got a lot more drama than I signed up for when I finished this book. It was like OH I LOVE YOU, BUT I DON'T REALLY? Isbe was REALLY indecisive, but like tbh same in real life, but in fantasy, I find that REALLY annoying. She just COULDN'T make up her mind. Like gurrrrrl -_-. Yet when she did choose I couldn't help but think she was cheating on him because she still had feelings for someone else. YOU SEE HOW DRAMATIC ISBE'S STORY IS?!?! Ok, sorry for just ranting about the romance part and not really the plot. The actual plot is quite fast, at least in the beginning. By page 30 THINGS WERE HAPPENING! It followed the summary pretty well, and to be honest, the summary is better than the story XD. I guess that is all that matters though, click bait but for books! idk anymore. Aurora's 'dream world' was really a lot less magical and more on the creepy side... The world had these 'Impressions' that were meant to lead to your death. So ya... creepy. Also, Aurora's "true love" was basically insta love. Like SERIOUSLY... I'm not even kidding. Of course, you do have to add in the fact that in the dream world Aurora can speak and touch, which she can't in the real world. Also, it's just a PERFECT scenario where Heath is the first person she talks to. There was just a LOT of obvious elements in the book. You were warned. Basically, go into this book with caution knowing you might be in for more drama than you realize, and it's actually more drama than fantasy.
Nonetheless, this book is quite interesting, as the ending leaves on a bit of a cliffhanger. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT?
