Insert brooding troubled man here. Ugh this series is getting too repetitive to be enjoyable. Each of the men are exactly the same with no variation of personality so it’s the same story over and over. I enter the world with the Drake sisters and I loved them, continue with the sisters of the heart and loved them, continued with torpedo ink and I’m getting bored. Hopefully we can get some books about the girls in the club to get some variation in this series because I’m just about done with it.

SO MUCH better than the last one as there is really a plot to this one rather than just being a manual for kittens.

That said, not a reader of Sea Haven, so those who are will appreciate this book a lot more than I did. Hard to believe that Jonas and Jackson, being such upstanding officers with their own women to protect and their own talents, actually tolerate the MC hanging around.

Dislike the psychic pairings and had hoped we were done with them once we finished Absinthe and Scarlett. I guess that's one of Feehan's traits, but it hampers getting to know the characters. I felt little attachment to either Zyah or Player because they were so connected to one another.

Lots of repetition from other books in this series. You could overlay this plot on those of the other texts and the plot points would be nearly the same. Lots of background info that readers of this series already have read ad nauseum. I know some of that needs to be there for new readers, but it seems excessive.

The whole bomb/portal didn't work for me--I prefer the gang of thieves plot line. I've read too much fantasy and sci fi dealing with portals to see it used this way here.

Am very grateful that the Francois character gets smoothed out--albeit quickly--at the end. No movement at all on the Ghost/Diamondback/possible Russian survivors hunting down our heroes. Which is too bad as I was looking forward to resolving that overall story arc eventually. (What was the purpose of the scene between Pierce and Alena? That was way out of character for all involved.)

Missed Reaper--he's named but has no presence. Savage is barely there. Instead we have Destroyer.
The first book of the series, as Feehan builds her characters and world, is my favorite. It has some meat to it. Kudos that she stays mostly inside the world she creates, but this far in the series, she relies on past tricks.

TW assault and abuse, both sexual and physical

Great addition to the series. Not usually a fan of "second chance" stories, but this worked.

Triggers: Flashbacks of what happened to Player when he was younger include child abuse (sexually and physically). There is also violence against the elderly in this book.

HEA: Yes

Would I recommend this book? Yes. I would recommend this book to Paranormal Romance readers and Romantic Suspense readers. I’ve tried every time to keep my reviews short, but it’s impossible. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series because I hope either Preacher or Maestro get their books. I also want Alena and Lana to get their books too. There are so many more members that deserve HEA after what they had gone through when they were younger.

Christine Feehan left me wanting more after this book. She’s starting to grow on me now, and I’m glad I found her books. Now, I need to read everything she’s written, which is a lot.

Extreme Book Nerd Challenge 2021... Category #50.
Challenge Topic: A book published this year.

Another great read by Feehan. I am just loving delving into the Torpedo Ink clan and watching each of them find that special person that complete's them. The struggles they go through and the character development is amazing.

If you haven't read the first four... do! You will catch some of the inside joke a lot better. However, you can read this one without the others too as Feehan is great and bringing everything full circle.

Great addition to the series. We get more of a view into Caspar and Sea Haven and their citizens. I fell even more in love with Hannah and Jonas. One word: Toads. As always there a mystery, or two, that need to be unraveled with some seriously steamy sex scenes. As always, a page turner. Can’t wait for the next installment. Will it be Preacher????

This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Berkley Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Reckless Road is the latest edition in the Torpedo Ink series by Feehan. And I will admit that I was super nervous about this book, especially considering the certain "kink" that was contained in the previous book in the series and I had no clue where this author would take this book but "whew" thank goodness we found something normal ...normal for Christine Feehan that is. LOL In Reckless Road we have a story where we see more of our Torpedo Ink club and I am always fascinated in seeing how Feehan has been able to build this series yet also connect it to the previous series she has done. But I also found this one to be so unique from beginning to end that held my attention from beginning to end.

Our Hero "Player" is one that has certain psychic gifts where his mental capabilities are put at risk but he has talents the like of which his brothers can't comprehend and at times don't delve into and Player tends to keep it more private. But when his mind is almost shattered and he can barely think straight and barely makes it to the clubhouse in one piece, he finds a beautiful woman who breathes music in every movement, a woman of grace with a talent of belldancing and of Middle Eastern descent. After sharing a beautiful night together, not just of sex but of connecting on a deeper level, Player makes a mistake and shatters Zyah's heart. And now Player will have to get his humble boots on and make restitution to Zyah and prove to her he is genuine in his caring of her. But both their pasts will come together in a way neither expect but Player may have to make a difficult choice ....his brothers or the woman he loves.

In Reckless Road I had such a fascinating time with and my goodness I love seeing the beautiful representation here with a Middle Eastern heroine. I rarely see that in romance and loved it in this book. Zyah is such a beautiful heroine both inside and out and her sweet spirit is addicting, she just draws you in but she does stand her ground with Player but not too much. I appreciated that she didn't force this "groveling" for too long, it actually had a well balanced feel to the story in how relatable it felt. Feehan really works her magic with this story in conveying this romance and the more connecting variables between Player and Zyah.

Love love love

I recommend all of her books to everyone but her MC series has a special place in my heart. Nothing like a tortured man to get a girls heart fluttering. Steam and action packed. You can't go wrong.
