Finished while making scallion pancakes and banana bread.

Clearly discusses the background, the event and the political outcomes of Chernobyl. Really good if you’re interested but it is a dry account.

History of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, from the construction of the power plant to the political and public health effects decades later. A (traditional) history book investigating the actions and intentions of the decision makers on all levels of the Soviet system from plant managers all the way up to Gorbachev. The author also shows the accident's importance for exposing the flaws of the Soviet system.
