The author portrays Christopher's mental illness in a stereotypical way which is harmful especially to autistic community. The book was interesting but failed to portray an accurate picture of someone with special needs.

It seems that there are a lot of books like this out lately: written from the point of view of a teen going through some sort of struggle. Maybe I would have liked this more if I read it in high school (that's what happened with Catcher in the Rye - loved it in high school, think it's just whiny now). Either way, it was sort of an interesting glimpse into the mind of a teenage boy, but all in all I thought it was dull.

It was an endearing and fast read. Emotional at times, a bit funny at others, there's something for everyone in this book. Also, surprisingly good autistic rep for a 2003 book!

I think this is a really great book. It is one thing to talk about development disorders in techinal terms and trying to understand, but this book gives you an insight how the person with the disorder perceive the world. I recommend it to everyone.
