There are a lot of different opinions on this book, so humor me and read mine.
This series so far has me in a chokehold. This first book gives me 'the bachelor' vibes with some hunger game aspects in it. I was immediately hooked after finishing FW/IF. For me, Lor was a relatable character and I really grew to love her resilience and perseverance. There were a lot of unanswered questions going through this story for me. I PROMISE you, see it through to the next book.
The first one definitely reads YA, there is not a lot of romance involved. Do not fret, the next book will hook you up and well...you'll just have to read my review of that to see.
Ultimately, if you like fantasy, LOTS of world and character building, and a really interesting storyline. This is a great book for you. It helped me get over my Iron Flame hangover. Just like the first book of ACOTAR, you have to trust the process.

This scratches an itch. You know exactly what you are getting with the title story and the series’ arch. The fairytale-inspired map completes Romantasy Bingo. Critiques: The switch between Lor and Nadir is incongruous with the romance (Lor and Atlas). Lor doesn’t meet Nadir until well into book. Also, the book is slow-paced: Lor has a tendency to monologue and over explain.
