GAH! No words! I have no words to describe how truly fantastic this book was! I love love LOVE Nico and Layla! This book, just SO MUCH angst! My heart feels like it was wrenched out, but in a good way! I love how this author tells a story, its so all encompassing, I felt like when I closed my eyes I was there in NY with them. I'm recommending this story to everyone I know, if you are a fan of love in general, you will love this series. I just loved how perfectly imperfect these characters were. The way this writer weaves the whole tapestry with her words, its a whole world she writes, each character is so fully developed and multidimensional which makes you feel like you know more about the hero and heroine, its a more fully formed picture and I appreciate the opportunity to learn everything there is to know about them, it adds to the appeal. This was just an all around great read!

Feelings so many freaking feelings!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness this book put me through the freaking ringer. I just want to say if you've read the first book which you absolutely need to do before you start this one DON'T read the epilogue. At times I didn't know if I knew something was off because in just knew or because from that.
But this book one minute had my heart in my throat and in the next min it would drop. Gah! Nicole has become my author when I need a great series to read, one that will give me an incredible couple.
And Lost Ones was no exception.

5+ STARS!!!! I'm struggling for words here to adequately describe this novel. Amazing, heart wrenching, raw. Never before have I cried/been on the edge of tears for an entire story. I am so incredibly entrenched and invested in Nico and Layla's story, thanks to Nicole French's masterful storytelling. Nicole has moved to the top of my list as favorite author. I am blown away by Nicole French's talent to elicit such strong emotion from me through her novels. I feel pain when Layla feels pain, I feel saudade when Layla feels saudade (hopefully I used that right :) ) I will be anxiously awaiting the next novel in the series, as well as anything and everything Nicole French writes!

Wow – this one was even more emotional than the first one!

I had a harder time with Layla in this book as I knew how badly she was hurting from everything that went down with both her dad and Nico, so I knew that her dating Giancarlo was a mistake. I was yelling at her in the book as I never trusted the guy but at the same time I felt that she had just got to a place where she was almost numb with everything that she had lost. He was so controlling and jealous, but I didn’t know if she would be able to escape.

I was mad at Nico in this book for hooking up with Jessie as I knew he was just using her for sex, but I could also tell that she wanted so much more from him and I was so mad at the beach incident. I understood why Nico was reluctant to say anything to Layla about the FDNY as I knew it would backfire on him, but I was very proud of him for trying again.

The phone call was OMG!! I was so scared for what would happen next and I was definitely on the right track for what happened and I was glad that people got there in time.

I was super sad with the collapse of the relationship between Quinn and Layla and I really wish we could have had something from Quinn’s side to understand why she did what she did.

The ending had me a little worried but I knew Nico was not going to give up and was ready for Layla whenever she was ready.

I look forward to more from this author!

This book is it the reason that I read. I have loved Nico and Layla from the start but this book made me love them more. Well rounded and excellently written these characters are some of the realist characters I have ever read. Lost Ones has it all I cried, laughed, and had all the feels from this book. Nicole you are the master (which I already told you) I can't wait to see where you take it from here. I loved this book for so many reasons.

"The best moments in my life have always been with her. Right from the start."

Oh the love I have for this book! 5 stars in NOT enough. I loved Bad Idea.... this book went above and beyond my expectations for it! The love that Nico and Layla share is both a blessing and a curse! Their timing was all bad! 💔😭 While Nico was trying to find himself in California, Layla was losing herself in New York. But her downward spiral was not all about Nico. Although they seem to be toxic for each other, they can't manage to stay away. It has been 16 hours since I finished reading Lost Ones and I can not let go of Layla and Nico! My heart was breaking into a million pieces. I had some very real feelings while reading this book. I felt angry at people. I wanted to cause bodily harm to a few of the characters. I honestly felt everything right a long with Layla. I can not even begin to tell you how many times I had to reach for the tissue box! And some of the supporting characters really got me intrigued to find out their stories as well. I think that everyone needs to read these books! All. The. Feels!!!!!

Lost Ones is the second book in Nicole French’s Bad Idea series, and it worked perfectly fine as a standalone novel. Despite references to events that clearly took place in the first book, I was not lost when reading this. That being said, based upon review I have read, this one would have packed a stronger punch if I had read the prior book first. Therefore, while you can read this without having read the first, the consensus seems to be not to do so.

All in all, this was an enjoyable enough read. There was plenty of drama and angst throughout this one, a story that leaves you curious as to how it will play out, and yet I wasn’t crazy about this. In theory it should have ticked all of my boxes, but I never really felt the connection to the story that I had been hoping for. It was interesting, but it was not sucked in as deeply as I would have liked to be.

I think one of the reasons for my inability to become as attached as I could have been was the length of this one. It wasn’t an overly long story, but at times it felt as though it was. Things seemed to go in circles somewhat, they did not feel as though they were moving forward. I wanted to know what was going to happen, yet there were points when I did not feel as though we were moving towards answers. Due to this, there were times when I found my attention slipping slightly.

Although enjoyable, this wasn’t quite what I had expected. I may go and read the prior book, and then come back to this one, to see if my view changes with more knowledge – however, it is not something that is very high up my list of things to do.

With the cliffhanger preview at the end of book 1 I knew this book would be a bit darker. Family issues have left Layla (and Nico to a lesser extent) not in the happiest of places emotionally. They try to remain friends despite the distance between them but both sides contribute to that failure. Layla’s toxic relationships lead to more emotional and even physical abuse. But in the end Nico is there for her when no one else really is. But they still have a lot to work through going into book 3. No big cliffhanger here but you know the story is far from over.
