I love these books! Enemies to lovers is my favourite trope. I also love that they are academic rivals. The way they bicker is amazing. If you love hockey romance books you have to read this series.

I'm a pig wallowing in the mud, oblivious to the world, smiling blissfully.

It was VERY Character.AI AGAIN, but I was eating this shit up. Yes, the book was quite repetitive, and there were many points from the first book, and I also hate when the heroine is called 'babe' and 'baby girl'. But overall, the fact that the hero looked like he did on the cover got me blind, got me dreamy, got the strongest chokehold on me.

Alex and Blair did not disappoint! They were teased in the first book Play It Dirty and I was already excited to read their story. I loved that they were also academic rivals although I feel like that got lost throughout the story.

I love connected stand-alones and this series does a great job setting up for new characters. We finally know why Ryder quit the team which we learned about in the first book and now hopefully he will be book #3 so we can find out how he saved Blair from arranged marriage.

“Hate and lust are a powerful combo.”

✨Enemies to lovers
✨Reformed playboy
✨Forced proximity

THE TENSION AND THE BANTER BETWEN THESE TWO IS LIKE NO OTHER!!

Even though she lives off of her family’s money, Blair is such a hard worker. She’s incredibly smart and an amazing dancer. Unfortunately, Blair has many secrets that can easily harm her relationship with Alex. I was SHOCKED to see what Blair had to go through growing up and what she continues to deal with in this story. I was so happy to read more about Blair, and I loved how Ryder was very protective of his little sister.

Alex is also a hard worker when it comes to playing hockey and his academics. It’s his dream to get drafted into the NHL with his twin brother, Logan, and they both have worked hard for their spots. Watching Alex come to the realization that he never hated Blair, but instead loved her, melted my heart. He’s a great alpha male who will fight anyone for Blair’s happiness.

Watching Blair care for Alex even in the beginning of the story while on their school trip was so sweet. Rather than making fun of him when he was at his lowest, she helped him. As the story continued, the tension between Blair and Alex was incredible!! From the massage at the hotel, to the being paired for a project, to the auction, the tension kept on building up more and more and I loved every minute of it! The mysterious secret and plot twist caught me completely off guard, but it definitely made me want to keep on reading.

I really enjoyed reading this just as much as Play It Dirty. I absolutely loved reading Blair and Alex’s story! I was sucked into this story from the very beginning. Highly, highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good tension-filled story!

3.5
