Sequel to In the Forests of the Night. More on Aubrey.

I have read this book 3 times, and I still love it each time. Although I do get a bit bored at the same spot every time, I still find it to be an enjoyable read. the Den of Shadows series is iconic and is always a great way to find some books to read. Definitely recommend.

This is a reread. I have read the book many times. I like this book but I liked In the Forests of the Night better. It was harder to get into and I really didn't care about Jessica. On the other hand, Caryn was much more likable.

I have always liked Atwater-Rhodes' writing. She captures the allure and the mystery of a dark romance very well. I wish she would also publish similar books featured more for adults at this point but I loved reading these as a teen.

Honestly these read kinda like fan fiction and I am not opposed. This may be the nostalgia talking. But also I realized: these are PRE-TWILIGHT, by like, a LOT. They’re like a 13-year-old read interview with a vampire and was like: I can do that. I love it. The absolute balls on Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. This one features a hilarious self-insert teen writer who writes about VAMPIRES and then meets VAMPIRES and becomes a VAMPIRE because no one likes her at school and she and her adopted mother have nothing in common :(((((( I love it and would die for it send tweet

I originally read Demon in My View by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes when I was in middle school. It instantly became one of my favorites and was a book that I frequently checked out from the library. Upon rereading it as an adult, I know why I loved it so much but it failed to live up to the memory I had of it. Atwater-Rhodes is obviously a talented writer but it was apparent that this was a story written by a 15-year-old (of which the author was at this time.)

The novella was stuffed full of purple prose and needless symbolism for each small thing mentioned. The main character, Jessica, was so horrifically obnoxious that I could only feel sorry for my own mom because I’m sure I was just as miserable as Jessica at that age.

Overall, the story had a lot of promise and the premise itself was interesting and great to read. I just failed to enjoy it as much as an adult - with a bit more book experience under my belt - as I did as a younger reader.

I read this book in 6th grade and devoured it. I still remember what the story is about and highlights I thought at the time were wonderful.

The author is amazing, I highly recommend her.
