Quote:

“Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning.”

Setting:

This book is sent in an alternate version of Florian some time ago and feels pulled straight from a traditional fantasy fable. There are two countries constantly at war that are currently at piece and people are flourishing.

Plot:

Our story follows two main characters, Westley a farm boy and Buttercup the farmers daughter who fall in love and are separated by misfortune. Eventually she is found by the prince who asks her to marry him, thinking her Westley is dead she agrees.

Writing:

The format of this book took me a while to get and understand. Nothing against William Goldman or S. Morgenstern as I haven't read many abridgments before and this had an extremely long forward. As such I took a while to grasp which was written by who, but eventually I was able to grasp what was going on and from then on was widely enjoying the two writing styles.

Characters:

The characters in this novel are both diverse and their backgrounds are very well flushed out when they need to be. I enjoyed all the characters and found myself wanting to know about many of them.

Pros:

A heart warming tale
Well fleshed out world and characters

Cons:

Rough ending
Confusing combination of authors

Recommendation:
If you have watched them movie as I had, you likely don't need to read this as not much was changed between the two. That being said if you want to learn why Goldman choice to abridge this novel it is absolutely a must read for that reason. If you haven't seen the movie I don't know what to tell you, you need to read this and then watch the movie. Both are just short of perfection.

The first bit of this book was a bit rough for me but when it turned more into a screenplay like read it made it much more enjoyable.

I recently completed listening to "The Princess Bride," and I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Prior to this, I had watched the movie numerous times, and it had already become one of my all-time favorites. However, experiencing the story in audiobook format added a new layer of enjoyment to the timeless tale. The narration brought the characters and the adventure to life in a way that was truly captivating. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend both the book and the movie to anyone who appreciates a good adventure and a touch of romance.

i rarely think a book is worse than it's film/series adaptation but unfortunately this is one of the dark times.

with the way the intro went on for so long i started to believe i was reading a completely different book. the book is okay, it just doesn't have that spark that mandy patinkin and carey elwes gave the film ya know? inconceivable!

It's a fairytale, a sort of parody of one but the greatest one of all in the same time.

This is tough to review because it's so much like the movie. This isn't one of those books that's like "Oh, you've seen the movie? Just wait until you read the book!" they're almost exactly the same - scene for scene. But, yes, the book is good.
