I think this was an amazing end to this series and really stayed true to who the characters were. At the same time, there was definitely hard moments that I felt like I had to disassociate from the characters and story just because of how intense they were which probably led to other moments down the road not hitting as emotionally as they could have because of that disassociation. That being said, I think those moments were still very valuable to the story. I loved how Hades finally let people in and had the guys be such an integral part of her life and work. I also loved that she was making friends. I’m really happy I gave this world another try. I definitely want to look into more companion series and maybe even finish up some of the other books I have by her.

Oh wow, where to even start. This series, this whole book UNIVERSE, in fact, has been an absolute ride from start to now (because it’s not even finished, I’ve still got the Guild series to go!). Tate James books are absolutely un-put-down-able - I don’t know how she does it! There is never a dull moment, never a place where I feel comfortable pausing to read and although I do my very best to pace myself, it’s HARD! The characters are so compelling, the storylines are completely electric and don’t even get me started on the chemistry and romance!! *SWOON*

The plot is so well crafted, all these different threads being woven throughout the story that come together so well and all start to make sense the further you get. Everything fits into place with just enough left to drive you further forward into the next series. I’ve enjoyed it so much. I’ve tried to predict it as much as possible, but Tate James seems to be the absolute queen of plot twists and curved balls! Just when you think it can’t get any better, BAM! And those cliff hangers are just something entirely else. I’ve enjoyed every word of these series, with undoubtedly hundreds of highlights and bookmarks in each book to mark my favourite things. Phenomenal. I’d give it 10 stars if I could! And despite being worried it would be similar to the MK series and fall complicit, it is completely different in what I felt was even better. It’s darker, grittier, smoky. The characters are all just so well developed and distinguishable and it’s been great seeing characters from the previous series set in the same world too. I loved the darker aspects, the crushing reality and cruelty in places, and the gritty truths and hardships that just made the characters even more relatable and real. I can’t recommend this series, this universe, or this author enough. Truly.

Timber takes a significantly darker turn than the rest of the series so please be cautious. There’s no actual TWs/CWs provided in the book, just a note that you know what to expect if you’ve made it this far because you know Hades past. I’ll include triggers at the bottom of this review.

I thought the series was great right up until the end. Hated the marriage in the epilogue despite Hades saying on 3 separate occasions within the final book that she’d never get married. And the ending overall was just kinda weak 🤷🏻‍♀️ all these epic showdowns with Chase just for her to say “a magician never reveals her secrets” when she magically can finally have him arrested and truly held.

Okay, I lied. Timber is by FAR the darkest in the series. As a social worker with a background of trauma work, Hade’s recovery was sketchy at best, however her revenge was SWEET. The spice is incredible, and reminds me why Tate is one of my auto-reads.

<spoilers>
Holy moly this series was a ride I never wanted to get off of. I was on the edge of my seat the whole book. There were a lot of dark scenes so check triggers. I’m glad they show that hades is a human who struggles with real emotions and trauma. Daddy Cass is perfect and I freaking loved him so much. Zed and Lucas were great too and I loved how they each helped Hades in their own way.
The way took Chase down was poetic and I didn’t expect that to happen.
Also I may never eat marshmallows again
