I always find Linsey Hall's books to be intriguing and enjoyable. Every now and then, one is particularly good, but I always know I'm going to enjoy the book. Some stand out more than others, but in general, they are fun quick reads. I prefer her Shadow Guild and later works to these series, but they are still enjoyable.

I might just need a break from my the author. I have really enjoyed her series but this one I just can’t get into. It’s the same book as the previous series. Maybe not word for word but man there are so many similarities that it’s become monotonous. Here are just some of the HUGE similarities I’ve seen between this series and Cass’ (the series right before this)

Heroine: beyond belief power that she doesn’t know she has, new powers are being received and she has to learn to control them. Prophecy that she will save the world but has to master her powers before the big fight

The Hero: Uber powerful, one of a kind, swoon-worthy looks, shape shifter who is exceedingly rich

Evil Antagonist: don’t know much about this entity except they are out to get the heroine and are super powerful themselves. The Heroine is the only one that can defeat them

Romance: instant connection, like they were made for each other. Trust issues between them. Hero is constantly saving her life and giving comfort

It really is the same plot line. Yes the story itself is different but the big things are the same. I just don’t know if I want to finish the series because it’s just so similar it’s become boring.
So why the 3 stars and not lower. I cannot say enough how much I enjoy this world the author created. I also enjoy the characters (although with this one it’s a little less and the side characters are more interesting to me). Maybe a short break will let me see the books with new eyes.

Del has secured her freedom from the underworld, and stopped the poison that was turning her into an ubilaz demon; but her problems are only just starting.

I received a free copy in return for an honest review.
I enjoyed this second adventure following Del. The first Seeker book concentrated on her getting free from the underworld, whilst coming to terms with her growing attachment to the handsome warden, Roarke. Now, she has to save herself before her new powers overwhelm her and her friends; and in doing so starts to chip away at the mystery that is her past.

The demon-magnet thing was a cool twist, that really helped to add pressure to the treasure hunt, and gave the constant demon attacks that happen in the Dragon Gift series a fresh approach.

As fragments of Del's past start to come through, there are hints that her family life wasn't quite as caring and nurturing as Cass'. And the more that is discovered, the more questions arise. About what she is capable of, what is blocking her; and ultimately what would happen if she died again?

I really enjoyed the expanding of the world we know so far, visiting Cambridge etc. Finding more supernaturals that might not spurn the sisters for their powers.

The Seeker books aren't as carefree and fun as the initial Huntress books, but I guess that's more fitting with Del and her death-related powers. I still didn't feel that Del and Roarke were very distinct from Cass and Aidan, but it was an entertaining adventure all the same.

Speaking of the sisters, definitely Nix's turn next?
That made me chuckle when Nix pretty much stated the same thing in the story. She deserves a rich, good-looking romantic interest, and to find out her past.
I do worry that it'll be along the same lines as Del and Cass' books. You know what I'd really like - it would be awesome to break the mould with making Nix's significant other to be another woman, it would definitely give this series some fresh, new ground to cover. Just a thought.

Anyways, I'm still enjoying this series, and look forward to the next book!

I love the fight scenes in this series. There’s plenty of sword-swinging and magic-flinging. Del’s weird abilities related to death are causing her to absorb odd powers from demons she kills, but she can’t keep them under control. That plus Roarke’s ability to fly when he shape-shifts into his demon form add an extra level to the action.

The romance is the most formulaic part of the book; for example, the male love interests are uniformly handsome, wealthy, and powerful. Nix even comments that now that Cass and Del seem to have found their honeys it should be her turn next (which it will, of course). On the other hand, many readers don’t mind formulaic when it comes to romance, so that probably won’t bother a lot of people. Roarke and Del do have some chemistry to enjoy. Naturally Roarke has grown a little more distant recently and Del has to figure out where they really stand. After all, trust comes hard to her.

The women in this story definitely kick ass, and one thing I do love about the romances is that the men respect their women. They’re allowed to be protective without stepping on the women’s agency or ability to do their own fighting. With everything going on right now, simple respect in a relationship has become a romantic thing in its own right. (Men, take note!)

This is a good installment in the ongoing series. I enjoyed the quests and adventures, and the look we’re getting at the Underworlds is interesting. I’m looking forward to finding out more about Del’s unusual nature!

good continuation of the story, with a good ending. More depth in texture would've been nice, but still very enjoyable
