Political romance? Opposites attract? Enemies to lovers? You got it!
If you’re into American politics and two people on opposing sides that grow soft for each other, this book is for you! The two main characters, Grant and Dallas are on opposing sides of their political groups and are forced to work together to meet in the middle and come up with a solution that would benefit both sides. Little did they know that the tension between them would soon take over.
Plus the sides characters in this book are wonderful!

I gave this book a 3.5 ⭐️ rating.
This book has A LOT of American politics that was very overwhelming for me mainly because I do not know the intricacies of it all. I can’t imagine someone from outside the U.S trying to understand it all.
The premise for this book was “The Hating Game meets Washington D.C. The story follows along two lobbyists Dallas McGrath and Grant Pierce. I loved the banter between the two throughout the book. Dallas knew how to push Grants buttons just as he pushed hers. This was definitely enemies-to-lovers in a political setting.
We see both of them struggle with figuring out who they want to be and what they want to really do with their lives, not what they think they have to do to please those around them. The ending was the sweetest and made my heart so happy after everything they went through.

Classic enemies to lovers which is literally all I read anymore lol. I did like that with this political drama there wasn't one party that was the bad or corrupt one. Honestly both sides pretty much sucked. A lot of times when it's democrats versus republicans one ends up switching sides or you can kind of tell the author leans a certain way. I think the author really did a good job of being equal and wasn't obvious with her political views.
I will say that I didn't know a lot about lobbyists and everything DC. So that did make the book sort of confusing. The terminology was hard to keep up with at times and I wasn't sure what the jobs were at all times. And I have very little knowledge so maybe that's just me.
Also I felt that it sort of dragged out at the end. Like we needed them to just get together. But the two characters were both so stubborn. At a certain point I would have just given up if this person really didn't seem interested in me.
Is this the best enemies to lovers book? Probably not. But if you like a good political romance, I'd definitely pick this one up.

ACROSS THE AISLE was just okay for me. The amount of American politics in this book was completely overwhelming. I cannot even imagine a reader outside of America being able to follow the political story since I struggled with it.
Beneath it all there is an epically sweet love story between Dallas and Grant, but you have to wade through vocabulary and inside political structures that the average reader will have a hard time connecting with. The main characters are political lobbyists. This author worked professionally in the world in which this book was set and it's clear that she overshot what her perception of what others outside of that world know about it.
I really loved the banter, the sweet moments, and the way in which these two come to know each other on a personal level, outside of politics. But, in the end, this book was much too niche and much too long.
If you are highly aware of the ins-and-outs of American politics you will probably LOVE this book. If you aren't then you will very likely struggle to follow this story.

Grant and Dallas both work in DC politics, on opposite sides of an issue. When they are forced to work together to find a solution, they can’t decide if they hate each other or love each other. With the help of some friends, they figure it out.
Opinion
I’m not political and reading this book made me feel like I’d hate my job if I had theirs. However, this book was a great enemies to lovers story. I particularly enjoyed the banter back and forth between the two MCs and their best friends.
