Couldn’t put it down! I’ve never enjoyed a slow burn more then reading this book!

*small spoiler*

Now I love how my girl Vhalla is coming into her own BUT my girl made some questionable choices when it came to that one scene with Daniel… like GIRL he CLEARLY likes you more then a friend and you say you’re in love with your dark Prince so WHY THE FUCK did you get his hopes up when you let him touch you?!?

I love Daniel and I really hope he has a happy ending but Vhalla needs to make it clear she’s not interested in him and I feel like she’s kinda leading him on a bit

Enjoyed listening to book 2.
Some heart wrenching twists.
Curious where this story will take us.

** SPOILERS WARNING **
Ughhhhhh. I very rarely read books where I actively dislike the MC. Maybe I feel nothing for them and think they're forgettable, but I rarely find them irritating. Vhalla is 'smart', but not smart. 'Plain', yet has had 3-4 men fall in love with her. The end of the first book filled me with hope, she was angry, and swore to become something to be feared. I was expecting anger and motivation from her this book; instead she was whiny and constantly crying AGAIN. She apparently isn't good enough to even be in the presence of nobles, yet deems it okay to slap Baldair. She knew she didn't like Sareem (?) in the last book and felt bad, and yet does it again in this book with Daniel. Where is her growth? Why does she still blame herself for everything?? When she told Aldrik the truth about her dreams (his memories), she ended up crying because 'she hurt him'??? By being honest about something that wasn't her fault???? It made me laugh when Aldrik assumed she knew already that [I've forgotten her name] was his cousin, because he thought 'it'd be obvious to her'. When ha Vhalla ever read between the lines or been able to read a room?? She consistently doesn't understand what's going on and requires clarification. There was so much miscommunication I wanted to take her by the shoulders and shake her. And why did it take her two pages to realise she could stop the sand storm :|| bffr.
Aldrik annoyed me too. I guess I'm just over conflict being caused by two idiots not talking or being honest with each other. Still liked him more than Vhalla, though.
So little happened in this book. It was literally them travelling to the North. Also, when are they going to discuss the ethical implications of empires? It was, maybe, very briefly touched upon in the first book, but nothing. I'm waiting for the shoe to drop. Why isn't she questioning what they're even fighting for?
Things I liked? I liked her friendship with Daniel (minus the love triangle crap), Craig, Fritz, and Larel. I liked the part where she got drunk, and the concern over whether the Emporer will ever let her be free. Aside from my frustrations, the book isn't too taxing or difficult to read. I've committed myself to finishing the series, and I really hope I liked the others more

This was such a great sequel, I felt so badly that she was going through this, and I can't wait to read more!
