If 'angst' was an Olympic sport, this book would clean up. I don't think I've ever come across a book that is so over-the-top moody. I'm sure this book is referenced in an emo handbook somewhere.

The MCs are Edie and Austin. They knew each other as teens and had feelings for each other, but they were both so tragic, broken, dark, sad, whatever, that it didn't work out. Edie had told Austin her deep dark secret, and he let it slip, so she ran. When the book starts, it's four years after she left, and they magically happen to run into each other at a bar.
Honestly, this book is just painful to read in so many ways. For one thing, the story moves along at a snail's pace. Austin will say a line of dialogue, and then there's like four pages of him thinking about the past and how Edie looks. And then Edie will say one line, and then we'll get four pages of her wondering internally if she could trust Austin again. I would have killed for a few pages of just some back and forth without all the rehashed angsty bull-crap.
And because it took so long for the story to move, it took FOREVER to find out Edie and Austin's big "secrets".

The author took so long to get the story moving anywhere that by the time I finally learned what had happened to Edie and Austin to make them so "broken", I honestly just didn't care anymore. I still don't understand why Edie left, why she couldn't tell her brother what happened at the time, and why she blamed Austin for taking away her home and her future.
And then the writing style of this book...

I'm paraphrasing here, but you get the idea :
My beautiful boy.
Finally, I feel safe.
His arms.
My darkness, my light.
So broken.
He sees me.
Chases thoughts of him.
So many secrets.
But in his arms, is home.
I see her.
My angel.
I need to protect her.
But I break everything I touch.
Look what I did to him.
So dark.
She is the light.
I have to make it up to her.
Will she give me the chance?
Her eyes are like diamonds piercing my soul.

If I could give Wait 6 Stars, I would. Heck, I'd give it 7.
This summer has been full of ah-maze-ing books. It seems that every book I've had the pleasure of reading lately has been above and beyond. Wait is no exception.
I've been drawn to this series from the very first word of ASitS. The. First. Word. Amy has this way of weaving her words together that captivates me. To say the least she creates magic with 26 letters.
Austin is beautifully broken. He's Baz’s brother and I've been waiting for his story since we were introduced to him. I knew he had a dark and troubled past and I couldn't “wait” to get under his skin. (It was worth it!)
Edie is broken too. She may be more broken than Austin. She's beautiful, shy, independent, strong, and hurt. It turns out that she's just what Austin needs and vice versa.
Without spoiling ANYTHING or saying how they meet or are connected, I'll just say this… Wait is more than worth the wait.

Couldn't put it down! Austin and Edie broke my heart with everything they went through. But their love for each other was so strong it put all their broken pieces back together. I can't wait for more from this series!

5+ RUIN ME CROWNS
If I could, I would rate this book 5 MILLION CROWNS. It has absolutely everything I love in a great romance novel: flawed and broken characters, redemption story line with some suspense, chemistry that is off the charts, and phenomenal writing. It is the epitome of excellence!
The boys of Sunder have stolen my heart, and I don’t want it back! Each of them is complex and broken in some way, paying a self-inflicted penance for some atrocity he feels he has committed. And while I love all the boys, especially Lyrik, I couldn’t wait to get Austin’s story, and it was completely worth the WAIT. What I love most about these boys, and, of course, Austin is they are good down to their core, even if they don’t see it. His protective nature and need to care for Edie is one of his best qualities, and his acts throughout the book truly exemplify his love for Edie. His road to redemption is also very heartbreaking. If you read the series, you know what he is seeking atonement for, and seeing him struggle makes the reader just want to take care of him. The reader roots from him to see his true self-worth, and we desperately want Edie to get him there. Even though Edie is Austin’s light, she is fighting her own darkness. The trials this girl has gone through make her empathetic to Austin and more sympathetic for the reader. At the end of the story, I truly admired this heroine’s fortitude to face her demons. These two characters fit together perfectly. The chemistry physically and intellectually is portrayed authentically, creating complete buy-in from the reader and an acute desire in the reader for these two characters to get their happy ending together
The plot of this story will suck you in, so be prepared to put all other aspects of your life on hold when you begin this book. It is perfectly paced, providing the reader the opportunity to see their relationship develop. The flashbacks to the time period when they first met are beautifully utilized to develop not only the characters but also the relationship between Austin and Edie. And the climax of the story is action packed, sending me into a state of panic and anxiousness over how the event was going to play out. Additionally, the excellence of this story-line only continues with the epilogue, leaving the reader with a smile on his/her face as she shows us a tiny glimpse into the future.
The last element of the story that I would like to touch upon is the writing style of the author. It is refreshing and beautiful. Her words make me feel as though I am living the story with the characters. Their pain and heartache and their joy is written so vividly that I felt as though I could reach into my Kindle and touch it, and, at times, as though I was experiencing their journey with them. Ultimately, the conclusion I drew after binge reading this whole series is that A.L. Jackson is truly a one-of-a-kind writer.
This whole series is great, and I feel like each book just keeps getting better and better. So, if you haven’t picked up Wait, make sure you do. You will absolutely fall in love with Austin and Edie, as well as their story.

“Desperate to run. Desperate to hide. Because I didn’t know how to face this. All the memories we’ve made. The hurt he inflicted. The hope he crushed. The love that had never dimmed. It all stared back at me now, held in the depths of those tumultuous eyes that always saw far too much.”
“Hope sparked in that dark, dark place. That place that only her light could reach. There were so many mistakes I’d made that I could never redeem. But maybe…just maybe…this one I could vindicate.”
“Do you feel that, Edie Evans?” “What?” “Me”
How does she do it? I really don’t know or understand how she can manage to just slay me every time. I know I’ve said it time and time again, but each time A.L. Jackson writes a book, she manages to blow me away. Every. Single. Time. Each time, I set the bar high, she blows my expectations out of the water. When I pick up an AL Jackson story, it’s like falling in love for the first time. It’s heart-pounding. It’s all-consuming and before I know it, the story has become a part of my heart and soul and I’ll never be able to forget it…..
Wait is the fourth book in the Bleeding Stars Series, but can be read as a stand-alone. This book is well written and utterly captivating. The writing is so lyrical and completely spellbinding. From the moment you pick up this book, you are swept away and lost in the story that AL Jackson has created. Before you know it, you will have devoured the entire book and will be taken on the most incredible and emotional journey.
Told from dual points of view, Wait follows the story of Edie and Austin. Edie and Austin’s story is not an easy one. It is heartbreaking and intense. From the moment you meet these two, you know right away that there is something deep here, something so intense, it will have you begging to know more. Edie and Austin shared a past and haunting history. I was so curious and desperate to know what came between these two; what could have possibly torn them apart. You see Edie and Austin shared an intense connection. A chemistry that time and history couldn’t deny. It was fate that brought these two back together and all you could do was just sit back, enjoy the ride and pray for the best.
When you meet Edie and Austin, it’s almost impossible to not fall in love and connect with them. They are both so lost and damaged. Their hearts have been broken by their pasts. For so long, the two of them have always taken the easy way out and ran from their problems, but when fate brought these two back together, it was like they were given a second chance. A chance to face their problems, to face their past, and finally give into the passion and love that they’ve always shared. My heart went out to Edie. I was devastated by what she had experienced and how it shaped her life. I wanted so badly for her to find some happiness. And Austin….Gosh….He was so perfect for Edie. You could tell that he loved her deeply and fiercely. He wasn’t in any way perfect and had demons of his own that haunted him. He was going to mess up and make mistakes and I think that’s what I loved most about him; he wasn’t perfect.
There are so many other things that I could tell you about this book, but I’m not going to do that. I’m not going to spoil the beauty of this book. What I can tell you is that I loved it. I thought Edie and Austin’s story was beautiful and intense. It was heartbreaking and angst filled. It had romance and some seriously steamy moments. There were secrets and lies and unexpected twists. Edie and Austin’s story ripped my heart out, only to put it back together again. AL Jackson has once again taken me on an emotional journey that I will never forget. She puts so much heart and so much soul into her stories. Her writing and characters have consumed my heart and obliterated any expectations that I had…..I definitely recommend checking this book out.

I stopped reading this at 11%. It didn't grab my attention and I was bored. I also want to note that I haven't read the other books in the series so that may be a factor. *shrugs*

I don't know what made me come back to these books, but I'm back and I'm going to try reading Stand next even though phrases like "my spirit spun" or "anger flew" are bound to show up. I think I just like the characters and I want to find out what happens to them and theirs I suppose. I DON'T KNOW WHATEVER
