Fortuna's emotions were so volatile and it didn't come across as a reflection of her trauma. She was just written weirdly. One moment she'll be snapping at Collith, then the next she's completely horny? Unprovoked? Like, Collith/Laurie/Oliver will do something completely mundane and suddenly Fortuna wants to drop her panties. She seems to think that cheating only counts if you've had penis-in-vagina sex. The amount of times she mentions her "core" or her "center"......
There were so many typos, along with odd turns of phrase. This was hilarious to me: "I was the fire to his ice. The shout to his whisper. The run to his walk." What kind of analogy is that, lmao ππ½ββοΈ The constant use of "male/female" in place of "man/woman" was gross. When those terms are used to refer to werewolves in their wolf forms, sure, I get that, but Fortuna refers to everyone this way. It creeps me out. Maybe this is a staple in fae fantasy that I'm unaware of, along with the use of the word "mate". I hated that too. I sighed with relief when Collith referred to himself as Fortuna's "husband" for once. π€£
We still haven't gotten an explanation for why Collith fell for her instantly. I have a bad feeling that will never be explained. I'm putting this series on hold, so I might never find out.

This book really stepped it up for me. You can go check out my review for Fortuna Sworn and I can say that pretty much every aspect I didn't like, the author rectified them.
I really loved the romance in this book, and the confusing love triangle.
This book is pretty confusing all around. The author doesn't tell you too much, it's dark and mysterious. And I do like that a lot.
Anyway, I think the next book is going to be pretty heavy so I need to mentally prepare myself.
