This is my first book by Toni Aleo. I know. I know. I should run and hide. How have I not read this author previously?? I loved this book so much. It deals with one of my favorite tropes, enemies to lovers. I think this author handles it perfectly.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the progression the characters' relationship. I loved seeing them move from enemies, to understanding, to friends and to even more. Their banter was great and their chemistry was palpable.

I thought the story was fun and kept me reading. I didn't want to put down the book. I will definitely be going back and reading more from this author.

OMG!!!!!! best love hate relationship EVER!!!!! At times I wasn't sure if Vaughn and Brie were going to go at it fist fight physical or sexually physical. SO HOT!! So Tense!!! Get the fan ready your are going to need it.

So many secrets are revealed in this book I felt like a stalker. The "non-family family" dynamics are just perfect. (Hopefully we will see more from Jenny, Wren and Wells in the near future.) Although I have to tell you I was really disappointed in Wren at one point but the end result for Vaughn had me forgiving her.

As a secondary character there is no better than Rodney. He is Brie's little brother. He has Down's Syndrome but is still a man. Just ask him. He will tell you.

This book is worth your time and money. I see myself reading it again real soon.

8/22/19 Listened to the audio while driving I-5 in California. Not the best place to ugly cry but it sure made the drive bearable.

The story begins with Vaughn Johansson who is the Assassins' star player and has the ego to match. He is beyond bold and cocky! Brie Soledad is a staff reporter for the team and carries the responsibility of her Down syndrome younger brother and financial burden of paying her deceased mother's medical bills. Life has not been served on a silver platter to Brie. But Brie is no doormat - she is a strong, confident woman.

In the beginning, Vaughn and Brie are at odds with one another. He is very rude to her and she finds his cockiness extremely irritating. She can hold her own for the most part and in fact, has quite a few comebacks that are hilarious and shows she can think quickly on her feet.

Vaughn has a lot of hidden layers and uses his public persona to hold people away from his true personality which, at times, backfires in his relationship with Brie. It's an emotional rollercoaster for Brie both by what Vaughn says and doesn't say, and by what he does.

Brie is a lot more open - what you see is what you get. She knows what she wants in life and isn't afraid to make her wishes known. She tell Vaughn exactly what she expects and how she's been hurt before and doesn't want that again.

In the end, Vaughn come through with Brie in a big romantic way that is swoon worthy! And the supporting characters? I can't wait to read Jensen and Wren's story!

It's hard not to love Vaughn, he is a multifaceted hot hockey player. Brie has so much on your plate you expect her to fall over crying. And if course they about each other, cause the Sparks fly when they get around each other.
And Rodney, thank you Toni for your focus on adults with Down Syndrome. This was very touching and I was so glad to see you include this in the narrative.

These just keep getting better

Vaughn and Brie's book was sooo good. It didn't disappoint. His stubbornness towards love was hilarious and his jokes with jenson were great 😂 i can't wait to enjoy more.

It pains me to rate this book a three. I like it, but I didn't love the book. I had a hard to understanding the characters, especially when their banter was more high schoolish than any banter I would see as foreplay in thirty-year-old adults.

Full review to come.
