I started this series with its fifth book: [bc:The Country Guesthouse|45991863|The Country Guesthouse (Sullivan's Crossing, #5)|Robyn Carr|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1569588440l/45991863._SY75_.jpg|70844596] which I really liked. I hadn't realized it was part of a series until I was practically in the middle of it. So, once I was finished with it, I decided to start at the beginning and, here we are.

I admit I didn't enjoy this one as much as [b:The Country Guesthouse|45991863|The Country Guesthouse (Sullivan's Crossing, #5)|Robyn Carr|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1569588440l/45991863._SY75_.jpg|70844596]. I guess that one really spoiled me. Perhaps I should have waited for a little while; properly digesting that one, read other books, before coming back to this series so as to have a fresh mind, open to another couple's story.

The narrator, Thérèse Plummer, did a great job and I had no problem picturing the story unfolding before me. Yet, I found myself less enchanted than in the previous novel. Nevertheless, Sullivan's Crossing holds plenty of interesting characters whose stories I would love to discover so, after detouring to other authors, I will surely come back to this series.

I picked this up off my shelves as part of a "read my shelves" project, but didn't find it too enthralling. Neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan flees to Colorado and her father's camp/general store after a series of traumatic events and lawsuits upend her personal and professional life. Once there, there's more upheaval, and she finds herself caring for her older father, Sully, who's been running the campsite for years. She meets Cal, who is staying at the camp, and waiting until the weather warms to hike the trails. The two grow close as they help Sully take care of things.

There's nothing wrong with WHAT WE FIND, it's just that nothing really happens. Maggie cares for her father and meets Cal. Repeat. There's no real depth to either Maggie or Cal, making it hard to get attached to either one. Maggie is supposedly facing bankruptcy thanks to issues with malpractice lawsuits and trouble with her medical partners, yet she can escape for months and continue to keep her home in Denver. The middle of the story is bogged down by a tangent related to Maggie's lawsuit.

The scenic descriptions in this one are good, and I enjoyed Maggie's gruff but kind father, but overall, this bland story wasn't a real winner for me.

I could have stopped half-way through and not cared. This book didn't really have any plot and I didn't care about the characters other than Sully.

I picked this one up because I really enjoyed the Virgin River series, and let me tell you I loved this one just as much. I will definitely be continuing with this series!

Like VR there is a tv show with this series, and of course I have watched the first season already! Loved it! And that was another reason I picked up this book. Does it follow exactly like book 1? No, but most tv series based on books don't follow exactly. I still enjoyed it and hope the show continues!

Book 2 is on my list, and I will get to it soon! If you are looking for a new series, I definitely recommend this one!

I picked this one up cause I wanted to read the book before I watched Sullivan’s Crossing. I knew going in I would enjoy it because I loved the show Virgin River but this was my first read of one of Carr’s books. I enjoyed the highs and lows that both Maggie and Cal go through and getting the dual POV of what each was doing. I’ll definitely keep going in the series because I’m intrigued.
