Okay, I admit, I picked up this series based on the recent announcement of Disney buying rights to produce the series. There was so much excitement over this idea and I felt like I was going to miss out. Therefore I took the plunge and bought the first series. I am so glad I did. I literally can't understand why I waited for so long to pick it up.
I love this world so much, it is so creative and interesting. It did take me around 100 pages to get into it, mainly because I don't read Greek Mythology, I don't know anything about it. I am not sure on which God is which etc, so therefore I had to learn these things and some key terminology for me to get into and understand the story. It was so worth doing this, because as soon as I got into it I found I could not get enough.
I really like the characters in this book, I love the underlying theme of unusual friendships. I really like Percy as a character, I enjoyed the beginning of my journey with him and it has led me to be excited for ht upcoming books where I can see him develop and grow up. I love how sassy he is for a 12 year old, his sarcasm had me laughing so much. I also love all of the mythical creatures, I love learning about different ones and understanding what they can do... despite the fact most of them are trying to kill Percy.
I love Rick Riordan's writing style, it makes for such an easy read. The Lightning Thief is so jam packed with action, it is fast-paced to the point where you will not want to put it down. I demolished this book in one sitting and immediately picked up the second book. I cant wait to find out what happens next!

I had so much fun with this. I would've liked this better I read it under better conditions me feeling ill did not help the case but honestly it was such a fun book made me realize why I fell in love with it in the first place.

which i could do 3 and a half. but i think i’m biased. i think if i read for the first time right now i’d say 3. but i also know it’s the first of many books and is just setting the stage. fun book well written. enjoyable. fun plot fun characters. i am deeply biased i know that but even re reading j enjoyed and am excited for the rest.
